This was the main attraction I wanted to see in Seville. If you google Seville before you go, this is the image that always appears. What a beautiful place, the history of the city, colours, sense of peace found here is amazing. It is totally free to walk about the Plaza outside, it was a place you could stay and go on a gondola. We didn't have enough time.

The cathedral of Seville is one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world and contains many interesting things, along them the tomb of Christopher Columbus who set sail from Seville for the new world. There are also impressive works of art, sculptures and paintings of biblical scenes. Very impressive and the Giralda, which is a former minaret turned into a belltower after the reconquista offers stunning views of the city and can be climbed on regular days. The climb is somewhat long however and can be tiring for some.

Enjoyed walking through this neighborhood that is close to major sites such as Seville Cathedral and the Alcazar.

A cool way to enter the neighborhood is go into the courtyard where they sell day of tickets for the Alcazar. On the other side of the Alcazar ticket office is a pathway/tunnel that leads into the neighborhood.

This is the former Jewish quarter of Seville but Jews were driven out of Seville beginning with riots in the late 1300’s and forced to leave Spain by royal decree in 1492.

Just fun to walk around and get lost in the narrow lanes. Lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops along with beautiful architecture. Don’t worry about getting lost. Eventually, you will come out of the neighborhood or see the Giralda, so you can find your way back.

The tower is a former minaret from when Seville was under Muslim rule, converted to a bell tower after the Reconquista. It’s beautiful from the outside and the inside is open for visitors to climb to the top and get great views of the city. It’s accessible through the Cathedral and the climb is sloped with stairs only occasionally appearing, so it feels more like a hike to the top. Would definitely recommend and it does offer stunning views.

An unusual modern landmark. The "popular" name is the Mushrooms of Seville. The building's roof, in the form of a mushroom cap, is supported by six large columns made of wood and white concrete. You can climb up to the top, "to the cap", for 15 euros. For this money, you are offered to visit the observation deck, as well as watch a short video (accompanied by special effects). The observation deck is so-so: there is no shelter from the sun, and photos taken from there will definitely contain elements of "mushrooms" in the frame.

Beautiful place to visit, amazing tile work around the various patios and courtyards, lovely gardens. Definitely worth a visit along with the Real Alcazar, and the local barrios around Casa de Pilatos are really interesting to walk through as well with narrow streets and beautiful architecture. We walked directly from Casa de Pilatos to the Setas de Seville, so you can do both in one trip/walk. We were unclear about the advertised "free Mondays" at Casa de Pilatos which turns out is only available to EU citizens, so don't go on a Monday if you don't have EU credentials. The place was packed with people looking for free entry, and many people were turned away for not having EU credentials, including ourselves. This restriction is poorly advertised by both the facility and local social media influencers, so beware. Otherwise, it seems you can get into this place most days without an advance reservation, although you may need a timed reservation to see the "by tour" second floor. Although I did not interact with many staff at this facility on the Wednesday we returned for a visit, one woman who was working in the gift shop on November 13 at 13:08 was particularly rude and could not be bothered to crack a smile, say gracias/de nada, or actually say anything at all. It's pretty bad when you are patronizing a foundation by purchasing products, and the cashier acts like she's doing you a favor. Everyone I met in Spain was so nice, so this one rude person really stands out from the whole trip. I hope the facility will consider giving her some training in customer service.

Centro Historico De Sevilla is an absolutely amazing area of this most famous and beautiful of Spanish city's to visit.
Architectural styles abound throughout the historic centre, Mudéjar, Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic, Neoclassical, its just an area packed with amazing looking buildings ,standouts are Sevilla Cathedral, Alcazar and Archivo De Indias but there's just so many beautiful buildings here ,its hard to say which is the most beautiful, I love wandering around the winding streets packed with pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants and flamenco taverns which are the beating heart of the historic centre, its a major tourist destination, atmosphere here is always vibrant, its a must go destination if you're planning a holiday to Seville.

As a child I saw a bullfight in Mexico. Tour the ring brought back many childhood memories. The minute you walk into the corridor you can sense the excitement. Then walking into the rooms full of paintings, bulls, and incredible attire, you gain a respect for this sport. The colorful handmade costumes were a highlight as these are truly fantastic works of art.
We stepped into the chapel which I never realized was part of the experience. The bullfighters prayers and traditions added greater respect for the event.
Stepping into the ring and walking around the huge circle, one could easily imagine the crowd screaming and the bullfighter working his craft.
For as old as this building is, it was in excellent shape! The self guided tour was excellent and it well worth the price to see and learn about bullfighting.

Lovely area, worth visiting, although most places would not let us sit outside for a drink, drink inside only and food and drink outside! Had to take the underground to another area to have drinks outside

Not essential but if you have more time to explore the lesser known attractions in Seville (i.e longer than a 2 day visit) then to consider this one. Its a fairly traditional art gallery with exceptional pieces in the gothic and baroque styles from Seville and Andalucia. It is nicely laid out with a clear route through the gallery, and doesn't take too long, around an hour.

I preferred the gardens to wandering around the rooms in the palace. They are laid out in regular rectangular beds with fine clipped hedges protecting the plants.
The tall palms and fountains create a cool and quiet space for walking and contemplation.
In October most of the colourful flowers had faded but there was some late bloom from the bouganvillias.

By chance! Was looking for the castle that houses the Inquisition museum and saw the market. Follow your nose…
Filled with a myriad of food stalls, for locals not the tourist trade. We bought jamon following a discussion regarding differences in pricing and what and why. Like my mother taught me, shoulder of anything is considered a superior taste to leg of anything. It’s all in the composition and fat. We bought the shoulder…
The biscuits my sister in law requested was shown me by another stall holder who left his stall to show me. We had a snack (tasty) then olive /anchovy tapas with a cerveza. The castle foundations can be seen at one end of the market. Excellent unexpected find, great fun and locals all happy to help tourists. Thank you.

The museum however turned out to be closed for renovation.

One of the most beautiful churches in the wonderful and exciting Barrio De Macarena is Basilica De La Macarena ( Basilica Menor De La Santisima Maria De La Esperanza Macarena ) which is just a great church to view.
Although the church looks ancient it was only constructed in 1949 ,a wonderful example of Neo Baroque architecture, the church facade is amazing to view ,very photogenic, the church is home to the wonderful 17th century carving of Virgin De La Esperanza Macarena which adds to the joy of viewing the Interior of the church, on my visit I never took internal photos as people were praying but I took nice photos of the exterior which were really cool ,its a beautiful church, one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area and easy to locate on Plaza De La Esperanza Macarena.
