Wonderfully preserved interior of the building where the kingdom of Spain managed their global empire. It’s more to just experience the splendid marble and staircase and the history. It’s free, it’s close to everything, and it’s 15-30 minutes of your time so why not.

Previous to its role as a Library that began in 1991 it started as an attractive Palacio in Triana. So now it provides a gorgeous home not only for the library but additionally serving as a Community Centre.

Moving inside is to see a grand patio with chequerboard floor tiles and fine columns and arches.

In one of the rooms a group of women were busily engaged in sewing and embroidering. Art pieces adorn the walls, including copies of famous Caravaggio works and those by Tonendi, a Sevillian artist.

I was exploring around this part of this most famous of Spanish city's when I chanced upon this building, at first I thought it was a church, there's so many churches in Seville but it turned out that it's a library and a beautiful and quite famous library indeed.
Biblioteca Bellas Artes is a well established library, very popular with students, I loved the look of it,its obviously very old,its got a distinctive yellow paint scheme, the facade is impressive, its just a great looking library building that's most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Calle Gonzalo Bilbao.

At its opening in 1992 it consolidated the city’s library from two diverse building into this landmark build.

Its innovative styling was recognised when it was nominated for prestigious European architectural award.

In addition to core library services, it hosts a range of cultural activities throughout the year.
