- John Skellon14 contributionsPlayed all 3 courses on a great deal, courses are good ,greens pretty poor. But the Europa course was by far the best, greens on that course where much betterWritten September 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - adam hTruro, UK10 contributionsAfter reading the latest review about this course i was a bit worried but when me and my son arrived we were like wow this looks lovely !! I mean it would of been 5/5 if 3 holes werent closed for maintenance but the course split 2 par 5’s into 2 holes each so had 18 to play not ideal but was ok and the rest of the course was in very good nick out if the 3 courses we played while in marbella this was our favourite and was good value as reduced green fees because of the maintanance and temp holes loved it really didWritten July 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris H1 contributionWe started the GENTS golf society 35 years ago and have been away every year since only missing one during covid. I arrange the trips, there are 24 of us and I can say quite honestly this was the easiest to do. Sunshine Golf made it easy, Their communication was always pleasant, always helpful and any questions always answered quickly.
We stayed in a hotel in Torremolinos and played four different golf courses, all fantastic. All the transfers were spot on and the drivers friendly. 19 out of the 24 of us also hired clubs from Sunshine golf, we chose various makes and had no complaints all were perfect.
All in all this golf break was the best we have done in 35 years, mainly down to Gemma at Sunshine Golf, friendly and efficient with a great sense of humor.Written September 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barneveld Barnes WallisArnside, UK146 contributionsOur annual golf trip never misses Santana Golf, wide fairways, little to no rough, what is there not to enjoy in that when you are playing holiday golf.
This rotation we played there 3 times, the course improved on each visit as their maintenance which was scheduled for 3/4 September clearly had been delayed, as on Tuesday 10th September the greens were covered in sand and un-puttable. When we returned on Thursday they were much better and Sunday 15th they were back to their best.
The course gives you amply opportunities to score, but also some tricky holes where par is always good, my favourite part of the course is 15th-18th, water in play on 3 of them, a par 5, a par 3, and 2 par 4’s. As a 7 Handicap player level par is an excellent return, but not often achieved.
Sorry Santana but the crushed marble and grit in your bunkers is terrible, it is compacted and unpredictable, we play them as GUR, draw your own conclusions.Written September 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But to say our fears were unfounded is an understatement.
From the moment you step into the clean, classy and very friendly clubhouse, to collecting your buggy and making your way to the spectacular 1st tee.
The course itself is challenging without being impossible, with amazing undulating fairways, well maintained greens and excellent halfway house and busy Course Marshalls on hand all day ensuring players are behaving.
A great place to visit, would deffo return.Written September 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The course is in great condition for February and I felt that the greens compared very favourably to La Cala, with more consistent roll and fewer dormant patches of grass.
The course is friendly and playable for all handicap players. I would say that the par 3 holes are the more interesting holes, but there are plenty of narrow greens, elevations etc to make for an interesting round. We use trolleys and found the course accessible, without the huge elevations that some courses in the area have.
Overall this is a really good day out. The shop is well stocked and the restaurant is excellent. A welcoming experience overall.
One significant area for improvement is on course facilities. Drinking water is not available aside from halfway, which I really think is a minimum requirement. If there is a beverage cart, we certainly did not see it all day.Written February 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John B43 contributionsAn enjoyable golf course and value for money considering other courses conditions and prices.
I haven’t played here for years but decided to return. Condition of the course is good but there are about 5 greens that are not up to scratch. A lot of sand and became very woolly at the end of the day. This is a course that has a lot of traffic so is liable to dodgy greens but generally they were ok but not all responded the same. Fairways were excellent as were the tee boxes.

However I was really impressed with the course. It’s quite short and very tight but makes you “think” around the course with each hole very unique. If you are looking for an American style course where you can blast a driver then this is not for you- it’s irons and 3 woods off many of the holes due to the many dog legs or water hazards that forces you to play more strategic. The greens were the best condition of the 3 courses we played, views from the clubhouse bar were stunning and this was my favourite of the courses we played this week. Don’t be put off by some of the negative reviews, our group was a mix of abilities from cat 1 to mid teens handicap and we all enjoyed it. Would enjoy playing the course again.Written September 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- McLaddieCheshire, UK94 contributionsCourse was in reasonable condition with some challenging holes. I generally liked the layout. The main point about writing this review is the reports on thefts. We had read about these, so we were nervous. The lady in the pro shop warned us and offered us the safety deposit boxes. The caddy master was really good, he let us go early, and really engaged with us warning about the thieves. He suggested how and where to pack things in the bag make it harder. He explained that the problems were mostly on the back 9, and particularly around the 13th tee. Sure enough, standing at the tee there was a guy pretending to be staff and pretending to be changing the rubbish bin. However, he had a portable electric scooter and no buggy, so clearly not staff. We didn't lose anything as we were on constant look out throughout the round, but it just spoils the experience.
There was some nice wildlife around as well.
So as a summary the staff are really aware of the problems and will do their best to help and warn you. Make sure you listen!Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Greens decent, not as fast as some others in the area but receptive and pure. All the staff we encountered were friendly, especially the starter who was great. A decent test for all levels.Written September 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Paul GLeicester, UK284 contributionsOur 5th course on the Costa del Sol and it didn’t disappoint. Located off the A7 well signposted and set in a valley. Upon arriving we were greeted by the course manager who took our bags and attached them to our buggy. The Proshop is amply stocked and the ladies very pleasant behind the counter. Once checked in off to the buggy, state of the art GPS guidance and course map means you can’t stray off onto prohibited areas. Iced water was also supplied. The course was excellent, fairways had plenty of grass although there were bald areas. The fairways are forgiving in the width for the big hitters. Bunkers had sand in them but the sun does bake them later in the day. Greens were true but had a little wear and tear and some were being treated. The holes were all varied and challenging, with course marshals ensuring you keep to time along with the GPS in your buggy. Water more prominent on the back 9. Cost 70-80 euros pp including a buggy. Great experience definitely worth a visit and revisit. This course was voted second best on the five we played.Written September 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John E3 contributionsPlayed here beginning of October , the course is being improved with plenty of work going on to enhance the course so its still a bit rough round the edges ! the views on some holes are spectacular and the majority of greens are very good , it'll be good to see it in even better condition next year , all in all a great experience and well worth the fees , buggy recommendedWritten October 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
