To complete its restoration, in 1973 Klaus Mayer, the parish priest, enlisted the aid of Jewish-Russian artist Marc Chagall (1887-1985), the master of colour and biblical themes.
This wonderful red stone church is on an elevated site with great views down to the old town and river.

The wonderful glass windows and the actual tomb/grave of Bishop Wilhelm Emmanuel Von Ketteler who was the Bishop of Mainz in the mid to late1800's was the best part of the tour.
The church itself had beautiful elaborate architecture and artwork, with multiple side chapels and interesting niches.
