    Nice zoo!
    You don't expect a Berlin Tierpark-sized zoo in Greifswald, but this little thing is a nice surprise! It has many species, local and non-local, with many exhibits where you can enter the same species and be with the animals. It offers many education plaques and is great for a walk on a sunny day. The souvenirs are also nice and I definitely recommend their own honey.

    Peaceful and atmospheric
    The ruins give you some idea of how massive this mediaeval monastery was. An information helps you to work out which bit was which. On a damp and misty day, it's full of melancholy.

    We came early so we didn’t have to skip the line.
    Totally worth the 6 hour drive from Denmark

    Fascinating historical overview
    This is a really fascinating museum with information about the entire history of the region from prehistory, but the most interesting for me were the sections on the Middle Ages and more recent. Some beautiful works of art, and good detailed explanations.

    From the outside this cathedral is impressive and omnipresent in Greifswald
    From the outside this cathedral is impressive and omnipresent in Greifswald. The view of this brick gothic building is worth seeing from all directions and angles.
    Inside, this charm is lost, it seems rather evangelically sober, does not really invite, but wants to concentrate on the essential. This is due to the time of iconoclasm and the reformation. The architectural patterns are particularly beautiful to read.
    You have to have seen them.

    Great massive church with a surprising wall painting
    Another of the German "Brick Gothic" churches, with lovely pillars, arches, and frescoes. Hidden in a corner is a huge silhouette of a whale, painted there in the sixteenth century after one was washed up on the river.

    Surprisingly good
    Of course the creator of the famous picture above a sea of fog is promoted; he was local. But this museum is much more than promotion. It is excellent.

    A lot of fun for free
    This is something kids and adults love. We were about 2hrs on the bikes pumping and jumping. It’s free to use. Just bring your bike and a helmet.

    The Hanseatic city of Greifswald has a beautiful old town, central with its market place
    The Hanseatic city of Greifswald has a beautiful old town, central with its market place:
    The unique market place is located in the middle of the historical old town of the Hanseatic City of Greifswald around the baroque town hall. It consists of the main market square and the fish market, which are connected by the town hall. It was built around 1300 and is today the seat of the Lord Mayor.

    The two oldest buildings on the market square are Gothic residential warehouses dating from the 14th and 15th centuries.

    At the fish market, only the fish fountain reminds of the former use of this square. The rectangular area of the market is a typical feature of the town planning from the Hanseatic period.

    Definitely a must see in Greifswald!
    Beautiful botanical garden with a great collection of plants. Especially the old greenhouses from 1886 are worth a visit. Don’t forget to also stop by at the arboretum located close to the Berthold-Beitz Platz. Definitely a must see in Greifswald!
