We visited the Frankfurt Christmas Market after having visited several in Vienna. I thought that we would be market-ed out by the time we got to the one in Frankfurt but, instead, we had a blast. I can't quite explain it, but this market felt a lot more like what I expected a Christmas market to be. The ones in Vienna had a lot of 'junk' shops...leather stalls, stalls selling stuff you see street vendors selling in squares in Rome and Florence, and just junky looking stuff. The main market in Frankfurt had a lot of food stalls, beer, how wine (of course) and some trinket stuff. But the overall feel was just different...better than what we had in Vienna. We ate a lot: bratwursts, potato fritters (awesome, and awesomely not good for you), chimney cakes, and tried all of the hot drinks. Frankfurt is so easy to get to compared to some of the other markets. I'd like to make it to some of those in smaller German towns, but this one was amazing.
