This is a really fun museum. We found it slightly by accident and then looked it up, read a few reviews and decided to visit on the last morning of our trip. Very pleased we did!
It's a really interesting tour through espionage in general and Berlin's history of it, with some fun things like lie detectors and the laser maze too. Quite a lot of interactive exhibits too.

This free museum is excellent. So many interviews done with real people that you can listen to even in English. Highly recommend. We were captivated.

A detailed lesson of one of the darkest times in history. Pictures and stories about how Hitler came to power and how he rallied people to his cause. Disturbing at times but an important experience.

This is a really cool museum. Great information and personal stories about the Stasi and how they got everyone to spy on each other. The guy at the front desk was not helpful in the slightest but I'd recommend you start with the 2nd floor offices if you're short on time. That was my favourite. This is actually the place where the head Stasi worked.

Great museum with free entry offering a huge amount to see and do. Ideal for anyone wanting to know more about the history of the Jewish faith. Museum made great use of interactive technology in order to illustrate a range of topics. Particularly memorable was the summary of all the anti-Jewish laws that were passed by the Nazi party which were written on curtains in date order and hung from the ceiling. There is also a haunting installation made up of etched steel disks strewn along a corridor illustrating faces of all those who perished during WW2. Visitors were permitted to walk along the corridor stepping on the faces although my family found this upsetting and chose not to take part.

Visited for just a couple of hours which was nowhere near sufficient. Best to allow a whole day at least.

Exhibition “Roads not Taken”. The German History Museum is closed but this exhibition is fantastic if you’re interested in modern history. Looking back in time from 1989 to 1848 it assess what might have happened if events turned out differently. Bring your headphones.

This is the site where Nazi and SS Leaders met to finalize details on implementing aspects of the Final Solution. The exterior of the building remains in almost the exact appearance as it did in 1942. The museum is very well organized with lots of exhibits that lay out the sequence of events leading up to and following the Conference. There is a nice small gift shop on site too. One of the books you can buy contains all of the exhibits that you see in the museum in the exact order that you see them in the museum. I highly recommend buying that book. Getting there from the Brandenburg Gate was about a 45 minute Bolt ride.

A wonderful and important museum. It's tiny but extremely impactful and perfect for a solo traveler to spend an hour or two. It is tiny, so I got sandwiched between some tour groups, but it was actually nice to be able to hear the guides! If you are at all interested in history, and even if you aren't, this should be on your list for Berlin.

This exposition is amazing. The first part of it may look a bit underwhelming. Although with modern lightning with projectors and good 3D animations it may seem like it’s not enough for a museum. But when you reach the final circular atrium, well, that’s crazy. I couldn't imagine that I could be for almost 1h looking at that massive 360° poster. The music and lightning mimicking different hours of the day add a lot to the atmosphere. I don’t want to imagine how big the Photoshop file for the poster must be. It’s a very ambitious image composition, with many of the elements in it (like the photos of humans) taken exclusively for the project. Talented artist and great display!

This is the site where Operation Valkyrie conspirator Claus von Stauffenberg was executed among others. During WW2, this building served as the Supreme Headquarters of the Army. Today, it is not only a memorial, but there is a VERY well done museum too. The layout of the museum is superb with a ton of exhibits and artifacts. I highly recommend visiting both the courtyard memorial and the museum that is housed inside the building. Getting there is about a 10 minute car ride or 25 minute walk from the Brandenburg Gate.

Museum has excellent exibits on life in the former DDR. Cold War enthusiasts will find the many displays very interesting. Located in the far back corner of the Kulturbrauerei complex. Elevators and HC accessible.

The building was built by the Prussian king. Anybody could enter the building to see the center piece, a sad statue of a mother with her dead son.

Fun. Interesting. We visited at Christmas time and it was apparent that they had made the scenery look like winter with snow, santas and Christmas-based facts. Informative and somewhat interactive. Enjoyed our visit but would say that it's probably more suited to children (if you're in Berlin with kids I'd definitely recommend).

To be honest, we popped in looking for a toilet before walking along the Eastside Gallery; however we thankfully decided to do the museum...so glad we did!

As a teenager in yorkshire in the 80's i was 'aware' of the Berlin Wall, i remember news reports people being shot trying to get across...but what it was/represented etc passed me by.
I thanks to the museum, now understand so much more and there were some emotional moments. Highly recommend.
