What travelers are saying
- SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,601 contributionsWe visited the Reichstag Building and were very impressed with the building and the information there. We had tried to book an English tour, but there are not many of them, and they book up very quickly as soon as they become available on the website. Instead we booked our (free) tickets for a regular visit and dome climb, which worked out fine. We received an audio guide with our entrance and it was helpful and explained a lot of information for us.
After getting through security and into the building, we took an elevator up to the base of the dome. From there, you can spend as much time as you like looking at the information panels, and walking up and down the ramp to the top of the dome. At the top, there are great views out over the city; we liked seeing the top of the Brandenburg Gate. We spent about an hour, maybe a bit longer, and were able to listen to everything on the guide and read all of the panel information, as well as enjoying the views.Written February 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The architecture is beautiful, and its historical significance makes it a must-visit. It’s especially stunning at night when it’s lit up.
The area around the gate is lively, with plenty of spots for great photos. It can get quite crowded, but the atmosphere is great, and it’s a perfect starting point for exploring other nearby sights like the Reichstag and Unter den Linden.
Overall, a must-see when in Berlin!Written February 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It provides an overview, as well as a lot of details, about the rise of Nazism and its many crimes. Entry is free. It isn't really a museum with artifacts, but rather a thorough set of informational displays, including lots of photographs and their explanations. We spent about an hour here and were able to read much of the information, but not all of it. There's a lot to process here, but it's very well done.Written February 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ardeshir BTehran, Iran198 contributionsThe Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is one of the most impactful places to visit in Berlin. Walking through the large, uneven concrete blocks creates a powerful and somber atmosphere that makes you reflect on the tragedy of the Holocaust.
The design is simple yet deeply symbolic, and the feeling of isolation as you move through the memorial is striking. The underground information center adds important historical context with personal stories and documents.
It’s a must-visit site in Berlin—both for remembrance and reflection.Written February 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We started off with the visitor center and the two movies they show there, which were about 15-20 minutes each and both quite good. Then we went outside and saw the various remnants of the wall itself, some quite long. There's also an observation tower you can climb and then look across the street to see a reconstructed full "death zone" with multiple walls and guard towers. We spent about an hour here and could have stayed a while longer if we hadn't had a bike tour scheduled afterward.Written February 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,601 contributionsWe visited Museum Island more than once during our time in Berlin. It's a scenic location in the Spree River, so we enjoyed seeing the river flowing by with its boats. And, as the name suggests, it's filled with museums, as well as the Berlin Cathedral. Many of them are housed in beautiful buildings, so just enjoying the architecture can take a good chunk of time. The most famous pieces of the Pergamon Museum were closed when we were there, and we didn't have time for everything anyway, but we picked a couple museums that sounded most interesting to us and made time to visit them.Written February 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tara BBethlehem, PA685 contributionsA free sight seeing activity that is historic and is art. It is a long inner wall of the Berlin Wall that is in tact. Some really interesting paintings. The Kiss painting by Dimitri Vrubel was painted shortly after the fall of Eastern Germany and is the most popular spot so it takes patience to get your pics.Written January 24, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,601 contributionsBoth the exterior and interior of this cathedral, located on Museum Island, are beautiful. We saw it multiple times as we spent time in Berlin, since it's located near several other major sites. It's worth taking a little time to explore this impressive monument.Written February 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,601 contributionsAs we were planning our trip to Berlin, my son insisted that he wanted to see the zoo. We don't generally visit zoos while traveling (we have a zoo at home) but this one was quite impressive. It's large and has many different types of animals. We especially enjoyed seeing the pandas, and the lions and tigers. The aviary was also a highlight with its large number of bird varieties.
We pre-purchased tickets online for the day we planned to visit, which saved time and I believe also money. We spent about 3 hours roaming the zoo and were able to at least get a glimpse of everything, although we could have easily spent more time there.Written February 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
