Beautiful cathedral - rivals that of Cologne, Notre Dame, etc. Visited in shoulder season and a day right before cruise ships came in so was able to enjoy the serenity - if you are there in high season, go early as you will enjoy it so much more.

This is a beautiful old town perfect for wandering around. It is filled with medieval and Bavarian buildings plus a few Roman remains. There are lots of shops and restaurants too.

Worth the detour to the edge of town. Definitely one for those who love Romanesque architecture, unexpected history of Scots in Germany.

This was a stop on our walking tour and a very interesting building. The painting of David and Goliath has been restored from the original and is very impressive. We were told it was the last of such buildings to have paintings of this nature in the city.

There isn't much to see of the Roman fortifications here but I love seeing anything Roman so it was worth it to me hence the 4 stars. Realistically if you aren't a big fan of the Romans you can skip it. 2000 years later and it looks like the wall could still take a ballistae bolt or onager shot.

While the ancient city of Regensburg might be better known and offers the most sights and old buildings, do not forget Stadtamhof. This part of the city is also and absolutely justified part of the UNESCO heritage.

The museum was a nice mix of visual/objects and detailed chronology. Focuses on the recent (300 year) history of Bavaria itself. Majority of explanations are in both English and Getman. The layout is a little confusing at first but then you get the timeline flow. Happy I chose this instead the Historiches Museum which primarily has the typical historical relics in showcases.

Very small and, from the outside, you could think it's just another building in Old Town. It's not and it's worth a visit. Behind that heavy door, it's a small chapel, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It consists in one small altar with beautiful sculptures and candles. On the opposite wall, you'll see many thank you notes from all over the world.

This gallery was an absolute surprise for us, an amazing one in fact, mostly because of the incredible German artists we had the opportunity to "explore", many of whom we had not heard of before, we must confess. I believe this well organised Art gallery would be of utmost interest for any Art lovers, but not less interesting for any other type of visitor.

I liked this small medieval church near the huge Cathedral I assume dedicated to John the Baptist.
It is quite plain but what is there is very tastefull.
A nice spot to sit quietly away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

The tower gate is worthy of a visit as it is much more visually striking than the western gate and gives an idea of what the old fortified city must have once looked like.

Said to have been one of the wealthiest and most influential abbeys in the past this church is still worth being visited. It displays religious artefacts one can still be drawn to, not to mention the architectural features.

When the city built this parking garage, they discovered extensive remnants of the city’s ancient Roman wall, which are on display here.

Crazy little hidden church just over the Stone Bridge. Very simple inside, it is surrounded by pallets of beer! I caught the organist practicing - even better. It's worth going through the arch to see it. No one will yell if you keep your hands off the BEER :)
