- Richard BStockport, UK33 contributionsA short city break to Munich and Salzburg and this was a true highlight. Thanks to Thomas and the team for the help with planning. It was a 5 star night at a great location where we were made very welcome. - LambShanksSingapore, Singapore247 contributionsWanted an authentic beer house in Germany and chanced upon this. Was glad we tried it for the experience. Atmosphere was good and there is a good selection of food to go with the main course, which is the beer of course. When we went, it was jam packed. Managed to find a seat in the open area where you had to go get your food/drinks and pay immediately, like Ikea or Marche style. Giant pretzels were warm and awesome. Not quite enough non-alcoholic choices but probably not a valid feedback even if I were to raise it. Great indoor halls. We didnt eat in there but popped in to snap some photos. All things considered, worth going.Written May 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Carolyn H3 contributionsWe made a reservation so we could watch a Euro Cup match; made sure we saved a spot for the Germany game. BEST experience of our probably our whole trip, certainly our time in Munich!!!!
We were surrounded by locals, which made the atmosphere authentic and super fun watching the fans cheer on the home team to a victory that night. The other patrons recognized we were from out of town, but welcomed and included us in conversation, buying us shots, and playing a couple of Pearl Jam songs (for my husband, since this is why we were in Germany in the first place). A most memorable night, and soooooo awesome! Food and drinks were great in addition to the atmosphere. Only downside was that we were in Munich for its three hottest days, and there was no AC. Didn't matter, we sweated through all the fun!Written July 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But the waiters/bouncers constantly walking about the place are on the whole intimidating and some kinda rude.
The food is ok and beer is excellent. Good prices by Munich StandardsWritten September 24, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This bar was close to our Hotel so we popped in there at night for a few beers. The bar is excellent as are the staff , very friendly. Beer is good as are the prices and service. Love the music playing in the background . Won’t go wrong here well worth a visit. A1Written December 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lilia S58 contributionsVery cozy, stylish, clean, nice place, open till very late, good drinks, very nice stuff. The music itself was sort of ok but the sound was horrendous, aggressive and unbearable, the floor was shaking - that loud it was, was impossible to talk even by shouting, my ears started to hurt amd we left. Good for teenagers discothèque but not for a solid expensive classy jazz clubWritten June 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jake CGreater Manchester, UK564 contributionsWe stumbled across the Boilerman Bar on google after looking for somewhere for cocktails. It’s upstairs in a hotel complex so isn’t the easiest to find, but it’s a really nicely decorated venue.
There is a great range of cocktails which aren’t overly priced, and the service is pretty fast. I had a good time here and would return - but I have two suggestions on how this venue could improve.
1) Our last round of cocktails were too strong - maybe this is just personal preference but something to watch.
2) The music. I think more jazz music and less hip hop would be more suitable for a venue like this.Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a bit underground as you have to enter a building that is seemingly random and go down a few flights of stairs and past a locked door. But when you enter the room is filled with life and spirit.
The ambiance is great with small tables in the front and booths lining the walls. The staff is polite and the service is great. They book excellent musicians and it is a great place to spend an evening.Written June 25, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Small but a great atmosphere, good mix of music and seemed to be an even better mix of drinks.
Men only, more aimed at the 30+ and beary types and that definitely was a winner for me, as was the great, no-nonsense service. Good prices too, especially for central Munich.
Mostly a local crowd who obviously were regukars but it was very friendly and I felt more than welcome.
Shame I had an early flight and had to leave around 930pm, it felt like the atmosphere was starting to build and the bar was busying up and I could have stayed longer.

- Tom W1 contributionIt‘s always fun at drella. They have so many various performances and live acts. The music is always very good and they offer cool specials like on Wednesday and Thursday - free Longdrinks in the first hour.Written May 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - martamodiMunich, Germany352 contributionsAlthought you dont need to pay entrance to get in (which is good), drinks are a bit expensive. Not a very big surprise as it is next to the most expensive street in Munich.
Latino music, great to dance. Very crowded on Saturdays.Written March 25, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It felt like we were being treated like old friends, out in the city for some fun, some history and some stories.
Very personable, very entertaining and a great way to experience a different side to Munich! Katrina told the stories so well, even I could recount them to our friends who we met up with a few days later.
If you have the time, book this tour and enjoy an evening walk with a local friend with a wealth of historic and spooky knowledge! Plus alcohol! Win, win.Written October 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Phil LKingston upon Thames, UK17 contributionsTime to have a more recent review, I reckon, following it reopening full time again. I'd spotted this bar during research for a trip to Munich. and it seemed a must do. Having not fully appreciated the opening times we arrived several hours too early on our first day. However our intrigue was sufficient to return when open and we weren't disappointed. A fantastic concept where you are in full control of how much you drink and how much you spend. As a result prices appeared among the cheapest in the city. However as a tourist the fun element was most important. You pay a €2 deposit (fully refundable) for an i-button and top it up to a spending limit for your drinks. You then select your glass and choice of beer and help yourself; guided by a visual display of how much credit you have left. There is nothing to stop you, although not for me, making a cocktail of all the beers on show. Again any credit remaining on the button is refundable as you return it or you can add to it as you will invariably want to stay for longer than intended. You can even take the button away and top up when you revisit.
As we were leaving a couple of young locals entered with their already charged button. Sadly business hasn't been so good following lockdown and if I had the finance I'd certainly look to invest as it is a brilliant fun idea which can only become more popular as word spreads. Ideal for stag and hen parties I would think and the very helpful and amiable owner Robin would, I'm sure, welcome such groups who would surely want it on their itinerary once they are aware.
In the hope that usage rises again we will certainly head straight there on future visits to the city.Written May 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
