- Inspiration81210015 contributionsIf you have the chance to see a production or concert at the Stadttheater be sure to visit the concession stand so you can appreciate the pannelled and mirrored room. Be ware! Germans seem to have trouble queeing -- yet everyone gets served despite the disorganization at the counter.
If you can't get in to see a show, enjoy the new-Baroque building from the outside and reflect upon the amazing fact that 25% of the money for the theater was raised within days of the first request for donations, and that it is estimated that 60% of the funds were donated by Fürth's Jewish citizens.
Interesting fact: the Fürth Stadttheater was built by the Viennese architecture firm Fellner & Helmer, using plans they had originally made for the city of Czernowitz. The Stadtwaldt is an actively managed forest criss-crossed by walking and cycling tracks, a natural refuge from the city. The pigs appear placid but signs warn against reaching through the fence and against feeding them. We were the only visitors to the museum (yet the cafe was packed!) and were able to walk around and have a good look undisturbed. There are three floors full of radios and tvs, and a small room dedicated to the Beatles including a working jukebox. The stadium has some pretty new stands and the atmosphere recreated by the fans is just fantastic. The only cons: reduced spaces for the legs and extremely hot during summer, almost stifling. Bars and Imbiss in the stadium are OK also.
