In Lyon this is a must visit. It’s a later era cathedral (19th century) but the architecture is amazing.

If you have a nice day, make sure you make time to have drinks at the bar of La Bulle, a restaurant in the adjacent converted 19th century Jesuit monastery. The bar has an outdoor terrace with an amazing view on Lyon.

The old town of Lyon is simply enchanting. Beautifully preserved Renaissance buildings and little passageways waiting to be discovered. Charming old town.

I visited this place for the view. It was without doubt very beautiful. There were many tourists, but it was still OK to walk around and enjoy the ambience with a cup of coffee. The weather was also nice, not too cold to be outside.

We only visited the ruins and not the museum. The ruins are free and were uncrowded. I do not recommend walking up from town..instead public transport is the way to go. There were great views of Lyon.

Lovely place to sit and admire from the bench opposite. Also to see the three incarnations of the same wall through the ages. Very clever.

The Traboules du Vieux Lyon are an essential part of the history of Lyon both in the past and in the present. Many are free and ope, others are accessible with a guide only, and some are closed and only used for storage. Each one Is Unique.

The cathedral’s windows are certainly the most beautiful feature of the building. Depending on sunshine and time of the day, the colorful glass will look magical.

Actually stumbled across the location one morning. Such works are usually insightful, this one no different. What I found most interesting was the presumed detail re the Lumiere brothers, the inventors of cinematography.

You will find a tourist center here! Also, a few small food/snack shops. The Hop On/Off stages from this area also.
My hotel was across the street so very convenient!

Situated on the Place des Terreaux, the original structure dates from the 17th c. Several fires led to a new facade mid-19th c. Its grand scale eclises the nearby Musee des Beaux Arts. It can be toured.

This is a nice square with a number of beautiful buildings as well as a beautifully sculpted fountain. It was also the meeting point for walking tours. Recommended to visit at night as well.

To North of centre, access by metro - or better still, walk up. Start at Churchill Bridge, visit Cafe Churchill or Patisseris 5 doors to the left, then go back around the corner, find Rue J. Soulary and STEPS, art, views WOW.
Way down - steps, views to the North od CR centre.

We had petit dejeuner at a cafe near the square. The fountain is beautiful. You will want to linger here to enjoy the peacefulness.

Located in Place Des Terreaux, this large sculptured fountain was by Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statute of Liberty around the 1890’s. The statute represents France and the horses represent the 4 rivers.
