It's a lot of steps up the hill but it is really worth it for the amazing and spectacular views across Nice. You can see right along the coastline for miles. Wear good footwear for safety as there are a lot of steps. It gets busy, so for best photographs go early

Hubby and I headed out of our hotel, to go to Old Town, to see what it was about. We had no plan, and just walked along the Boulevard, and turned up a street in the Old Town section. We came across Rue St. Francoise de Paule, and walked along that. To our surprise, we came across a large street sale of antiques, collectibles, and jewellery, which stretched quite aways. There were so many tables and booths to explore. The sale continued in another area, off that main street. This was held on a Monday, so not sure if it is held just on this day. My hubby went off exploring other streets and the Sea area, while I continued on this street, looking in the lovely 3 souvenir stores. I went back and forth amoungst them, to see what they offered first before buying, and to see if similar items were lesser at one or the other. I later headed along a street looking for lunch and came across the Fontaine du Soleil with the Apollo Statue, which was popular with picture-takers. I wished I had more time to see many more streets of Old Town!

This is such a hustling, bustling area. The street is very busy and can be noisy, with booming vehicles. Lots of action on the boardwalk area, with people walking, jogging, running, rollerblading, and biking. There are some eateries along here to grab a bite, but more costly due to scenery. The views of the Med. are of course fantastic. In one area, hubby and I sat on the metal chairs along this boardwalk, to admire the views, and we ended-up talking to various tourists who sat next to us. We enjoyed a take-out lunch while sitting there.

In the Old Town of Nice - France, we found out the Massena Square, which is a large place, with a monumental fountain - the fountain of the Sun, with the statue of Apollo in the middle. There were malicious comments about Apollo's unmasked sex.
I also noticed the Seven statues of 7 kneeling man on high poles, which are meant to represent the 7 continents. In 2007, Catalan artist Jaume Plensa created the contemporary art installation, comprising the seven statues along the tram lines, representing the seven continents known as conversation in Nice.

Lovely open air market with many lovely and unique plants/flowers, foods and shops. Try the socca at Chez Theresa and get a fresh smoothie at HOBO.

Really nice square that is vibrant and thriving with people. Good place to sit and watch people go by. There is a spectacular building with a clock and a lovely fountain in the centre

Beautiful street with a really wide area so it is very easy to walk along even if it is very busy. There are some nice parks shopping the way including a water fountain area

Great street for shopping but also has a great atmosphere and feels safe. Lots of cool shops. The Monoprix supermarket has some really nice food and lots of French craft beers in the fridge if you need them for the hotel

Whilst venturing around Nice, waiting for our tram into Nice Port, we always saw this rather unappealing, dirty looking, odd shaped glass building. Upon checking, it was home to tropical plants and quite a few animals.

We had a few hours to kill one morning, so we took the opportunity to venture inside and see what it's all about. The entrance fee was really reasonable €5.00 for adults..... In fairness, the place looked better inside, and then it did on the outside. Maybe a decent clean of the glass and more appropriate signage wouldn't go a miss. The place was really big inside the glass house itself, lots or exotic and tropical plants, fascinating to see them growing.

There was a large outdoor area, home to a variety of animals. There are lots of walkways, all on a flat surface, lots of benches, numerous toilets, and a medium-sized cafe bar serving a small selection of hot and cold snacks. I would say it's great to bring your own food and have a picnic in its vast grounds. The kids would love it as so educational.
We personally found it killed a few hours, well worth a visit, got some lovely photos.

Lovely stop if you are visiting the Matisse museum or the archeological site nearby. Free. No facilities although there are some in the city park next door.

We climbed up here from Nice port end, lots and lots of steps, not the most pleasant of walks but it is well worth it when you get to the top. Stunning views,
Take water and there are no toilets or facilities at the top.
Would recommend - the viewpoint is a hidden gem of Nice
