Enjoyed the Saturday morning farmers market and strolling along the restaurants and hearing the live music.

I hiked all the way to the top. As one other comment said, every step would be worth it. I recall on the way up, there are art crafts on the walls to look at. I enjoyed my hike. But if you are under a time constraint or any physical limit, then yes, take the lift. I am not sure where exactly is the lift but I know there is one. The view on top is stunning!

My wife and I enjoy walking alongside the water and people watch. We enjoyed seeing the launch of people doing parachute flying. We sat a a beach restaurant and had a cold drink. We were not rushed at all. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I absolutely loved the Chagall museum. My favorite part was the main room, where there are a dozen or so biblical murals depicting various scenes from (primarily, I believe) the Old Testament. They are nothing short of breathtaking. Other rooms include some of his illustrations for various books and some of his other drawings and works. The auditorium with the stained is class is definitely something to behold as well.

That being said, the Cimiez neighborhood can be a bit far for some to venture to. The one advantage is that the Chagall museum is located in the south of Cimiez, so it is much closer to Nice proper than other attractions such as the Matisse museum and the monastery. I bought the Riviera Pass with the transport option, so I had free admission to the museum. I took the bus (for free with the Riviera Pass), and it was very easy. Definitely worth the visit!

    Happily,

    Clayton Cohn

P.S. I tried to take a tripod picture of myself outside the museum and one of the docents stopped me and said I was not allowed to do this without prior authorization. Just something to be aware of!

Absolutely loved this market, all the fresh produce and gorgeous flowers everywhere.
Truffles and every kind of mushroom you can imagine as well as sauces and tapenades.
Fresh breads and pastries and oils, a foodie heaven. There was other interesting bits on sale too like hand crafted baskets and bags as well as art and jewellery. This is a must for sure.

Located in Old Town, Cathedrale Sainte-Reparate is very unassuming from the outside but you need to appreciate the ornate interior.

Entrance fee to this museum was €$10 (it also included access to other museums like the Matisse one and the Photography one), valid for 24 hours as of the time of purchase; it did not include the Chagall museum. Ground floor level shows the main elegant rooms and furniture, second level was devoted to different articles like statuettes, old-fashioned clothing, pictures and others, and third level to French movies history. The first level was nice, the second one not so appealing to me, and the third one very interesting for the pictures, movie films posters, some videos, and camera equipment through the years of French movies. The construction of the Villa started late in the 19th century, and it was concluded in 1901 in a neoclassical style with Italian influence. I spent like an hour for this visit. There is a beautiful garden surrounding the house, and chairs are available for relaxing. Toilettes available at the entrance of the house, also a cloakroom for bags and stuff.

This park is very beautiful and offers a lovely little sighting of both a variety of animals, from monkeys to crocodiles to exotic birds, and a wide selection of plants. It's located close to the airport, and serves as a nice little place to spend an hour or two.

The monastery itself has a beautiful exterior, and the inside is incredibly ornate. I was the first one there around 8am and was surprised it was open. No one else was there, and it was a very nice experience. It's a bit dark on the inside, and no pictures are allowed, but it is still quite beautiful.

My favorite part was actually the gardens. When you walk in toward the back left, there are magnificent vistas that present great photo ops. The adjoining cemetery is also quite decadent, with every person having his or her own mausoleum in lieu of a traditional headstone. Make sure to check out Henri Matisse's grave while you're there!

That being said, it is a bit out of the way. If you're already venturing into Cimiez to check out the Matisse museum then it's no extra effort, but otherwise it may not be worth exploring if you are on a tight schedule. I intended to visit the monastery's museum also, but unfortunately it is closed from the 8th to the 25th of August 2022. Bummer.

Still, for an extra hour (not counting transportation), you can visit the monastery, see the museum, take a stroll in the gardens, and check out the cemetery that is home to Henri Matisse. Definitely worth it if you aren't otherwise engaged!

    Happily,

    Clayton Cohn

Excellent service at this Lido! These beach guys were right there when you needed them for a drink, food, even more shade as it was SO hot! swimming was lovely, clean, clear water but balance carefully walking in and out on the rocks! The food was also very good. You can eat at your lounge or at the very lovely restaurant. We sat here and enjoyed our time for 3 days! We will return!
