Visited from our river cruise ship .

We had a local guide on the journey to the venue. This was very useful as they explained what each scene was showing , the history and what we should look out for .

They are not permitted inside to talk you through the visit. However you are provided with a telephone like handset which guides you through the tapestry scenes . It can be a bit fast but you’re fine to “ backtrack “ .Luckily it wasn’t too busy the afternoon we went .

At present it’s set up behind glass in a “U” shape. There is a new museum being built which will house the tapestry in an unbroken line .

There was also an exhibition about the Vikings & lots of information about how the tapestry was embroidered. Interesting to read & see .

Thought this was a brilliant visit & so glad we went , certainly recommend this.

No photos of the tapestry allowed .

Construction of this stunning building dates back to William the Conqueror. The stained glass windows are very impressive. We visited several cathedrals in our journey across France, and this was the most impressive.

Extensive collection of memorabilia from WW2 including weapons and equipment from the time. A respectful and fitting tribute to those involved.

An interesting museum which shows artefacts and art from prehistoric times to modern day, covering the history of Bayeaux and the industry it is known for. Lace and porcelain. Most exhibits have English translation and are very well explained

A perfect visit! Amaury was full of fun and intresting facts, he managed to speak both French and English with our group, and was a very nice guy. We got to pet the animals! We met alpacas, donkeys (micro, American and from France) goats, miniature horse, Cameroon sheep

We enjoyed spending about 1 hour here after visiting the Cathedral and Tapestry. I was absolutely blown away by the beauty of about 10 of their trees - all different varieties (including a sequoia/giant redwood). Nice open green places and beautiful views.

An amazing day. Francois is very knowledgeable and courteous. He took us through the American sector. I learned quite a bit. Overall a moving experience.

People seem to have posted the town to this listing. To start with the tourist office is excellent and interesting …second, so is the town!

The Ciderie is a very simple, beautiful establishment and we were treated so kindly by the host. We were able to try about eight different products, and they were very affordable to take home with us! We enjoyed their ciders at several picnics we had later in our European vacation! I don't think that food was available on the day/time that we went.

Well preserved church in Bayeux. Goes back to the 1754. Was significant in World War 2 as an American pilot got stuck in the steeple …apparently!

A very moving and well done memorial well worth a visit. Sobering to read all the names- divided into years- you can work out the conflicts that they were reporting from- it’s a quiet and reflective place worth a visit.
