We had seen this advertised in many places so visited and were amazing at the way nature had made this phenomenon.

The walk down to the caves from the car park is lovely, along a gravel track that winds around the hillside, and when you get there, the wooden deck soars out over the gorge under thoughtfully placed awnings to pr...
Of mention is the long walk from the car park which is fine going - downhill - but not so fun on the way back as it is all uphill.
La Grotte des Demoiselles Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois, France

This limestone cave with its stunning giant stalactites and stalagmites, translucent draperies, calcite flows and folds is a marvel of nature and is a definite must-see for anyone interested in life.

Fantastic art of nature
For Motorhomers, there is a large layby on the main road "below" the entrance and we were able to park in the shade when we arrived at 10.00 - we left our dogs there while we did the visit.

Jardins de la Fontaine Nimes, France

The park itself is overlooked by the Roman Tour Magne which can be reached by walking steadily uphill through fountains full of golden fish, Roman ruins , wide marble steps and parkland .
Based in an old Roman design ( the park still contains the ruins of a Roman temple and tower) but reconstructed in a fabulous way with great style and a lot of uphill walking.

Amazing nature
La Bambouseraie en Cevennes Generargues, France
#13 of 294 Nature & Parks in Languedoc-Roussillon
Our landscape architect friends were thrilled as this park has fantastic bamboo, pond-lily-water-garden area, and a huge Cornus controversa (don't see them a lot in North America).
Apart from bamboo there is quiet a good collection of oaks, red woods and other trees that will certainly intrest the specialist but for a mere lay person it is a very agreeable "walk in the park" Certainly worth...

Even close to the car park (which is free out of season) there are lovely rock pools that you can swim in and even when there are lots of tourists you can find a spot to suit.
The path is paved from the car park and goes for up to 5km.There are also places to swim in the river.

Only accessible in the dry season - as will become obvious when you approach the 'natural bridges'- it is incredible to see how nature has shaped these enormous caverns over the millennia - and to imagine how they...
We now believe the best way to do it is to park your car on the side of the road at the first safe spot below the village of Minerve.
