What travelers are saying
- WiseollyLlandudno, UK281 contributionsChandeliers need a wash but cleaning must be a nightmare. Vast, endless and worth walking the whole stretch to get area to yourself. Look at the marbles, fabrics and artistry. MUST.Written April 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Matt D5 contributionsI wanted to make sure that all tourists taking the RER – C train from Paris to Versailles beware of the tourist trap on the train! We just rode the train and we were given a €50 infraction fine on the spot because the tip of my wife’s shoe was touching the seat in front of us. Many other people on the train got the same infraction fine and had to pay €50 on the spot with cash or credit card. There was a whole team of conductors walking through each train cabin sneaking up behind people to see if their foot was touching or placed on the seat in front of them. If you claimed no cash or no credit card, and they insisted to see your passport in which they would send you a fine for €100 to be paid later. Not even a warning, and no signs posted in English, and no way to convince them otherwise. This is clearly a tourist tax for these French “gestapo” to extract money from tourists unfairly. Just please beware!Written May 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Wendy Ksanta cruz, United States17 contributionsShopping a market is one of my most favorite things to do while traveling, this market tops my list and makes me want to buy a flat just to shop here all the time!Written December 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- B1714DBelgrade, Serbia12,637 contributionsWhile the Hall of Mirrors is the most famous room in the Versailles palace, this one is just as amazing and not to be missed.
It's one of the longest, if not the longest one with huge paintings depicting France rich history through famous battles. The only downside (you cannot avoid) is the sheer size of paintings you cannot observe without being obstructed by so many people passing by or standing in front of you.Written February 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Alice RHobart, Australia8,215 contributionsSpent approximately 30 mins here and that was enough time to take in the detail of the carriages, sleds, etc. I'm glad we didn't actually miss seeing this.Written March 13, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Nick DCalgary, Canada1,310 contributionsthere are days when the fountains have a musical show but we were not there for that but still found them beautiful with the intricate design features and the hundreds of sculptures. one of the first things you see when you are leaving the Chateau and are heading to the gardens.Written April 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- M AlvesHildesheim, Germany1 contributionIt is a beautiful building with a cute garden and water fountains. I really like the big statue of Christ (copy of Christus by Thorvaldsen) in the garden. The visitor center is an interesting place for the whole family with much to learn.Written December 1, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Alice RHobart, Australia8,215 contributionsUnless you have time to spare, there is a good view from the Grand Staircase, which would be better on a sunny day.Written March 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Alice RHobart, Australia8,215 contributionsStopped here on the way back from visiting the Chateau, grand building with a good information sign, we didn't try to enter. There is also a war memorial and a floral clock on the way back to the station.Written March 13, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ellemay 🍹🐠🐳Sydney, Australia47,228 contributionsI discovered Quartier Saint-Louis neighbourhood by accident whilst strolling along the streets of Versailles. The cathedral of Saint Louis is the main attraction however there are some lovely rocaille & neoclassical facades scattered around the market square & cathedral. Well worth the effort to find.Written September 19, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
