when you think you have seen it all, then Apollo on his chariot rises out of the pond. The sculpture is amazingly fine. But the pond is so large that it is hard to see all the detail in the bronze without a zoom lens. it is worth the effort.

Massive sculpture works within this water feature, such detail, pity no fountain due to it being winter.

Stoked to see gilded figures and a beautiful vista not far from the Palace. It's hard not to miss as it stands out even on a dreary day.

An amazing piece of art and history here, a lovely walk down to the fountain - which wasn't working due to winter.

The kings of France did like hunting and these scenes would have been rigueur de jour. To us, it was violent but it did cause us to stop and become somewhat involved in the scenes. A tiger kills a bear and a big dog fells a stag. This is what wild animals do.

This fountain stands out from a distance due to its height. There are also plenty of other water features to see along the way.

This area especially the basin area is in desperate need of renovation. When we visited on 03/20, the fountain was dry, but there was a little water in the basin, but whether from rain or the fountain, we could not tell. The area between the two balustrades is chained off.
This area was created in 1675 with a hexagonal basin surrounded by inner and outer balustrades of marble. In the center of the basin is a single basin fountain supported by carved dolphins. Around the edge of the area are 8 statues: Amphitrite, Galatea, Dawn, Diana’s Nymph, Ino, Arion, Acis and Aurora.
In the photo, pictured left to right are the statues of Galatea, Amphitrite, Diana’s Nymph and Arion
Only three stars just due to the statuary.

Up near the Grand Trianon this quite well detailed piece sits in isolation, I'd never seen anything like it before, it was well worth a stop at.
