Chandeliers need a wash but cleaning must be a nightmare. Vast, endless and worth walking the whole stretch to get area to yourself. Look at the marbles, fabrics and artistry. MUST.

I wanted to make sure that all tourists taking the RER – C train from Paris to Versailles beware of the tourist trap on the train! We just rode the train and we were given a €50 infraction fine on the spot because the tip of my wife’s shoe was touching the seat in front of us. Many other people on the train got the same infraction fine and had to pay €50 on the spot with cash or credit card. There was a whole team of conductors walking through each train cabin sneaking up behind people to see if their foot was touching or placed on the seat in front of them. If you claimed no cash or no credit card, and they insisted to see your passport in which they would send you a fine for €100 to be paid later. Not even a warning, and no signs posted in English, and no way to convince them otherwise. This is clearly a tourist tax for these French “gestapo” to extract money from tourists unfairly. Just please beware!

We toured the Grand Trianon but did not go to the Petit or Hamlet. Would have liked to do all three but ran out of time. The Grand Trianon was a great addition to the Versailles Palace Tour. It was a pleasant walk from the garden but trams were available as well. Worth the additional time

Stunning building, just take your time and enjoy looking around, beautiful place, what a wonderful place to actually attend an opera or ballet. Definitely recommend visiting whilst in Paris, one not to be missed I think.

Such detail within the carriages, the death carriage was a real highlight. Good information displays and even sleds.

Grand canal is a pretty big man made lake you can see from the gardens of Versailles - that's its longer hand.
However, if walking along it you'll notice at the center it has two more hands making it look like a cross.

This French Baroque palace of pink marble is located within the Estate of Versailles. It was completed in 1688 on the site of a previous structure. At the time, King Louis XIV used it as a retreat for himself and his mistress, as well as a place to escape the royal court. A Versailles Passport ticket includes admission to the Grand Trianon. We arrived via golf cart (it’s a long walk from the main entrance, especially with children). Not crowded at all, quick visit, and the rooms are beautiful. Plan to spend the entire day at Versailles so you can enjoy the main Palace as well as the Grand and Petit palaces.

nice change of pace after visiting Versailles palace - much less crowded. The gardens are beautiful and quiet. We walked from the palace to the Trianon but got the train back - would definitely have got it both ways had we realised as it is quite a walk and the train is inexpensive (less than 5 euro). Entry to the petit Trianon was part of our ticket to Versailles palace. Lovely place :)

Shopping a market is one of my most favorite things to do while traveling, this market tops my list and makes me want to buy a flat just to shop here all the time!

While the Hall of Mirrors is the most famous room in the Versailles palace, this one is just as amazing and not to be missed.
It's one of the longest, if not the longest one with huge paintings depicting France rich history through famous battles. The only downside (you cannot avoid) is the sheer size of paintings you cannot observe without being obstructed by so many people passing by or standing in front of you.

Like in many other Chateaus this is a perfect layout of water features, precisely manicured lawns and trees and amazing symmetry.
It looked beautiful even on a cold and cloudy Jan day.
