This historic church was the site of baptism of figures such as Cardial Rchelieu and Madame de Pompadour and the funerals of Moliere, la Fontaine, Colbert (who is buried there) and Mirabeau.
This magnificent church is unfortunately under construction now, so we had a partial view from the outside but it was really magnificent from the inside.

I really enjoyed walking past all the tourist areas and seeing more unusual sights, such as the dozen or so permanently moored houseboats that are all unique, having been former barges.

It helps bring back all those history lessons that we were too young to fully process; it gives great background and forms a solid foundation for the rest of the museum and, indeed, other sites in France.
We really enjoyed the fact that many of the interpretive material was also available in English, contrary to many other historical sites in Paris.
