I had a lovely long walk through saint germain on a warm day this past august. It was beautiful to walk through the quaint streets with charming boutiques and eateries. Especially enjoyed the covered areas with specialty shops.

The dome is striking from the outside. However, it is also incredible within. It is a harmonious blend of grandeur and solemn. At its heart, of course, is the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte himself. It is surprisingly powerful.

One of my 2 favorite churches in Paris. And no, the other one is not Notre Dame. I like modern vitrages in the church, but also the old one. The atmosphere is really pleasant. A hidden gem in the centre of Paris.

Located on Place De Saint Germain Des Pres is arguably one of the most beautiful churches in Paris ,a landmark feature of the Saint Germain Quarter.
This Roman Catholic Church was originally a Benedictine abbey and founded in the 6th century ,rebuilt in the 10th century and subsequently rebuilt up to the 1800's ,it's a church to most definitely check out if you're in this area of the city and easy to locate on Place Saint Germain Des Pres.

Located close to the beautiful Jardin des plantes, you'll find this hidden treasure.

Morocco?! Tunisia?!.... no,no you are in Paris!

Beautiful mosaics, woodcarving etc to admire! As well as fountains, gardens etc

Chill in busy Paris and enjoy a time out for 3 Euro pp.

Small, busy café/restaurant with typical oriental ambience and food.

A truly beautiful church with a lovely feel about it. I was here singing a concert with my choir. Unlike other churches in Paris they were welcoming and facilitated quite a big audience. The paintings and windows are beautiful and it's in a great location.

One of the most famous church buildings in Paris has to be Cathedrale Saint Louis Des Invalides ( Dôme Des Invalides ).
Constructed between 1679-1708 ,this building has a most distinctive feature namely the amazing looking golden dome ,home to and known as being the final resting place of Napoleon ,it's such a wonderful and historic church building to check out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Boulevard De La Tour Maubourg.

Whether your catholic or art lover or even history. Churches offer great glimpses into different artistic styles. And if your a Catholic, well you’ll like seeing the different styles of churches.but seriously the styles of art and building is worth looking at. For me anyway. But like I said it’s probably not for everyone. Most churches are open and free. Some ask for donation as they are trying to preserve all the historic items.

This rather large and beautiful cathedral or basilica is squeezed in between buildings and trees. If you are in the vicinity, it worth a visit to admire the impressive architecture.

Built in tribute to Mary for answered prayers. The walls are covered with thanks and acknowledgements to the Virgin Mary, most anonymous. A quiet and lovely place to reflect. Although the Basilica is in the heart of the City, it appears overlooked. But don't miss this beautiful place. Use the camera feature on Google translate if you can't read French. So very touching!

Added plus: within steps of Galleria Vivienne and the gorgeous National Library.

The Arc De Triomphe is a monument in honour of those who sacrificed their lives in the defence of France and this is were you will find the Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier ( La Tombe Du Soldat Inconnu ).
This tomb contains the remains of an unknown soldier from World War One who represents all soldiers who have perished throughout the history of France, installed on the 11th of November 1920 ,it's a very poignant monument that's most definitely well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Paris and is easy to locate on Place Charles De Gaulle .

  • Yes- we will now join that distinguished group of many people who tried to visit on a normal weekday and were declined and denied admission.

There were barriers, barricades and a police gendarme presence.

Even if I had told them that I would write a true and accurate review for TripAdvisor, they would not have let me in.

See my few photos here- from the outside.

You can go on the sabbath, but call first to give your details. But then- you might have to deal with how to carry your passport.

You can read my detailed review of the Agoudas Hakehilos Synagogue and see my photos of the Tournelles Synagogue with my review of the Jewish Quarter of Paris.

We waited over an hour to enter and SO glad we did! Absolutely gorgeous stained glass windows! Worth it to get your tickets in advance (some hotels offer this option), it can save you a lot of time in line.

We wandered down Rue Mouffetard, and at the bottom of the hill we found this very old church. Went inside, it is classic and from the Middle Ages. There was a cult here very long ago. Nice park area outside.
