We got to see the lights go on on the Eiffel tower and later saw them blinking. Loved the musicians and we were well taken care of by our waiter. She was very knowledgeable, shared a lot of history around the objects we visited, and navigated thru the crowds like a pro! We started out by going to the abbesses train station. Got some eclairs and some baguettes for later. Then went and got macarons and chocolate at an amazing place. Got some crepes at local crepeire. Did some grocery shopping the French way. This entailed going to a butcher shop and a cheese shop to get items for our meal. We then went to an old wine cellar and drank some wine and at five different meat and cheese pairings. You definitely walk less as opposed to taking the train both ways, which is significant given how much walking you do between the palace and gardens.
Tour said 1:15 beforehand and then changed it to 1:25 shortly before. We also had to walk 10 minutes to the bus. No major complaints, but in hindsight my preference would be to do timed entry and take the train. No way to cover it all in one day, maybe not even in a week! It certainly can feel overwhelming so grab a map, and have a rough idea of things you want to see before going. If it meant to purchase then yes there was someone heating up crepes. There was no diet drinks options they were all full sugar.
The weather was nice but if it had been raining it wouldn’t have been a pleasant cruise. Paris lit up at night is breathtaking. The hop on hop off bus is a great way to see all the sites and then pick and choose what you’d like to do more of. I got pictures of all the major landmarks. I do wish the bus went to the gardens of Versailles but it did not.
