What travelers are saying
- johnhouston2Knaresborough, UK5,451 contributionsThese rugged rocks just off the beaches contribute to Biarritz’s unique and attractive coastal look. The one with the walkway out to the religious icon gets the most mention, but you should consider their beauty as a whole.Written June 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnaOrchidLondon97 contributionsI took a cheap flight at a good time from London Stansted to Biarritz in October half term. An easy 15 minute (and only £1.40) bus ride into town made reaching my hostel very easy.
I stayed in a hostel called Outsite Coliving Biarritz in a fab location. Great facilities and atmosphere too.
Beaches all walkable, lighthouse and views worth a walk to. Lovely market in the mornings for fresh produce (I had breakfast here of coffee and fresh eggs)
When it drizzled I took myself to the Aquarium which is well worth £15 and very well presented. Lots of nice bars and places to eat, a few independent shops too. I walked everywhere but buses looked easy enough to use. I loved watching the people surfing and reading my book on the beach. A lovely safe and relaxing few days.Written November 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Done really well, as the French can. The jellyfish (actually some other similar creature) at the entrance were an arresting start. But, as another review said, you really need at least some French to make much sense of it, as although there is some English (and maybe Spanish), there isn't much, and none in the audio offerings. - johnhouston2Knaresborough, UK5,451 contributionsThe lighthouse is visible from the whole promenade and beach area and is an easy walk for those who wish to see it close up.
Very good views if you make the effort.Written June 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are other perhaps better beaches.Written October 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DavidG897London, UK3,004 contributionsInitially, it was hard to imagine how the fishing boats actually would put to sea, assuming they were in the water in one of the interlinked harbours. Then we realised that there was an exit by them going under the bridges towards the single route out. But that depends on it not being low tide and, after exit, negotiating whatever rocks had to be passed by safely.Written February 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - johnhouston2Knaresborough, UK5,451 contributionsMuch smaller than the adjacent grand plage, this is however a very nice beach. It is also close to what is arguably the best part of the city centre in terms of cafes, bars etc.Written June 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stevefrommadridUnited Kingdom3 contributionsA fascinating collection of artifacts from India Nepal China and Tibet. Well worth a visit if you have travelled in any of these countries. The audio guide (free with your mobile phone) provides useful information about the displays but needs updating as some references have no commentary and some are in French even if you have selected English.
I would liked to have learned more about how the collection was brought together, clearly a labour of love.Written July 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The other church had it at 9:30. There must be shortage of priests here since masses are devided between 6 churches in Biarritz.Written July 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - johnhouston2Knaresborough, UK5,451 contributionsMilady Beach is possibly the nicest in Biarritz. With a couple of rocks offshore and a large grassy area above the sands it is attractive, and the grass area gives extra room for relaxing, sunbathing etc,
The sands are very clean and lifeguards are there to keep order.
Parking is very good and there is a large cafe.Written June 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you have time it's a nice, spacious place to spend 1-2 hours, otherwise it's not a must visit in Biarritz.Written August 26, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StephenCrossDublin, Ireland31,716 contributionsThis old church was Russian authodox. The building is simply stunning and can be seen for miles …and it has sea views.
