LUAS are the tram services in Dublin. There are two lines, the red line runs from The Point and Connolly station in the East through the city centre to Heuston, Tallagt and Saggart in the West. There is also the green line which runs from Brides Glen and Sandyford in the South to Parnell and Broombridge.

The lines cross on O'Connell Street.

On the red line the trams have 7 carriages and on the green line the trams have 9 carriages. When I travelled on the red line the trams were all busy and although I was lucky to get a seat some people were not so fortunate.

On one of the days I was in Dublin the green line was not running at all. I believe this was due to signalling problems as there were trams stuck on various points. There were staff out and about trying to support passengers by signposting them to bus routes to they could get home.

Generally they run well but there are times when things go belly up.

The tram stops I visited were all clean and well presented and the ticket machines dispensed tickets. You can pay by cash or card.

The Princess cruise port for Dublin is actually down the coast in Dún Laoghaire, so we took the DART from there to the Pearse Station to start our exploration of Dublin at Trinity College. It was easy to navigate, clean, comfortable, and inexpensive. Later that afternoon, we retraced our trip back to the cruise ship. Although it has no real tourist interest in itself, take a couple of minutes to look at the unique and historical Pearse Station. The first rail station on this site was opened in 1834 and then rebuilt in 1891. It is Ireland's 2nd busiest rail station with over 9 million passengers going through the station each year.

This tunnel should come with a warning since you’ll probably struggle to hold your breath for the entire length as it is almost three miles long. Sticking to the 50mph speed limit means it takes approx three-and-a-half minutes to get through.

I took the bus from Dublin Airport to Cork.

Positive: punctual service, very clean bus, good WiFi, quite friendly driver

Negative: very “jerky” ride with lots of sudden breaking and abrupt lane changes (I’d guess the driver was under pressure to be on schedule); occasional bad smell (from toilet) was evident

The Ennis to Dublin service is shocking. I take it regularly and it is frequently very late if it arrives at all. The online tracking is inaccurate. I'm currently sitting on one which has broken down.
