If you are driving (or bicycling or walking), we would recommend a tour around the Beara peninsula over drives around the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle peninsula (although each of these is also worth the drive, if...
... to view, the Healy Pass is a must but you just have to explore as we did and find special stops and breathtaking scenery all throughout your trip to this amazing land with its tales of sadness and mysticism.

Having driven the Ring of Kerry (lumbering buses, crowds, and cliff-hanging roads,) we were thrilled to enjoy great scenery, easy pull-offs and very few tourist traps.

The walk has a wonderful views, goes though a Nature Reserve, includes several 'boardwalk' sections across a highland bog, and meanders up to an amazing view of the lakes which you can only see from the summit.
I found the walk in our Killarney walking guide (Scenic Walks in Killarney by Jim Ryan - it has 18 local walks in and if you love walking an absolute must) and luckily it had clear directions in there.

It was our first visit to the Sheeps Head peninsular, we drove to the Lighthouse car park and did the Lighthouse Loop walk, which is short and well signed.
Great views and wonderful walk, especially when you have three small children who all really enjoyed it!
