Been several times to this gallery on Isle Ornsay, and seen Derek's work here before. A wonderful setting and filled again with beautiful work. Derek took the time to talk to us and made it especially interesting. We bought a couple of nice prints, only wished we could afford an oil painting as these were magnificent.

Had a nice hour wandering through here. Some lovely, unusual bits and bobs available to buy. We also had a bacon roll and tea from the food stall. I would recommend.

The pottery is very good, but quite expensive. The location is perfect and worth a visit whilst in Uig. Quality products.

John Bathgate works in a variety of media but all are essentially landscapes inspired by Scotland and Skye in particular. They range from the relatively conventional to the totally abstract. As John explained it to me "I just let my imagination run wild." My wife asked him when he knew a work was finished. "That's the difference between an amateur and a professional to know when it's finished. What I'm looking for is a happy accident and knowing when one has happened." It helps to explain what John is about. I didn't buy a painting but nearly did. A mixed media picture called "Tangled" at £1200. Some paintings cost more, some less and there are prints etc. Now £1200 is a lot of money for anything but having looked at many of the other artists studios on the island and the sort of prices you might expect to pay for art both on Skye and elsewhere it seemed to be about right. John himself is very charming and given the diversity of the work on display it's worth going. Who knows you might find something that you just can't live without.

Katherine’s work is fascinating; so intricate and detailed. It was a real treat to speak with the artist and to hear how she produces her work. I’d definitely recommend a visit.

Diana Mackie has a wonderful studio; it could be a film set. We found out about her because we were staying in nearby Hillstone Lodge, and they have some of her work, which we admired and asked about.
It was really fascinating to visit and chat to Diana, who is passionate and articulate about her work. And the work is just stunning.

The pots are very nice and pretty but very expensive. This is for the home made craft.
We find cheaper ones in back of Store which make very nice use for us.
Hard to find place but good for when rain is on Skype.

Lovely little gallery in a room in the artists home. Bill is a lovely chap. Bought a couple of prints - very reasonably priced and beautiful artwork. Pop in if you're passing, it's on the main road at the top of the Trotternish peninsula. Fabulous scenery on the way too!

My partner and I went into the gallery hoping to find a painting of the sound of sleat to represent our holiday in the area. While browsing in gallery, which should have been an enjoyable experience, we were exposed to the political rantings and inappropriate comments with regards to gender, from the artist when he was talking to another customer. Needless to say we left the gallery without purchasing anything. Luckily we drove along the road to the Nigel Grounds Gallery where we found a much warmer reception and purchased 3 paintings.

The drive here from just about anywhere on Skye is beautiful, and we really enjoyed seeing the weaving in action. The small gift shop had a great selection of scarves and blankets.

Beautiful bright colors and surprising array of fabrics and items, all well made and reasonably priced. Staff is great and a lovely, fun setting area for those who don't want to shop with others in their group. Love the joke board - taking that idea to our own shoppe at home across the pond!

Lovely location, lovely views, keeping it simple here with fresh pan fried scallops and chips, sat outside on the bench in the sun to eat them, I was in absolute holiday heaven here, lunch time nosh at its best, if you’re in the area and you like shellfish this place is a must. Parking can be tricky if busy though.
