- FeetOnThePeakLondon, UK1 contributionThis summer I booked a trip with the agency Orbis Ways to do a hiking route on the Isle of Arran. One of the stages ended in Lochranza and we were able to visit the distillery. We enjoyed it very much and it immersed us in the local culture.Written November 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cora BScherpenzeel, The Netherlands1,589 contributionsThis baronial castle offers lots to entertain you. A lovely garden with 2 trails, a red squirrel hide, an icehouse, a plays area for children, a shop, excellent cafe, and of course the magnificent interior. You can do an interactive tour or walk around. There are loads of information boards so you can't get lost. Allow yourself plenty of time to really enjoy it and do visit the cafe.Written October 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StephenandRoSettle, UK58 contributionsAmazing place, to my mind more interesting than Stonehenge due to the many different circles covered a far larger area. Good information boards, and not at all touristy. Hint - proceed past the first circle, there are very many more to be seenWritten October 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ExploreTheWeekendUKLeicester, UK52 contributionsEven the awful weather couldn't cloud our enjoyment of this hike! We won't pretend to say we saw anything from the top, visibility was at best a few metres, but the trail starts off in some stunning woodlands, before breaking free and following the exposed fields up to the top. The trail isn't overly technical and a good pair of trail shoes will provide all the support you need, we don't think poles are a necessity for this hike to the top.

- D R3 contributionsThe heritage museum was great! Really interesting exhibitions covering an array of subjects including archaeology, geology, genealogy, history. The cafe on site is brilliant as well!

It’s remarkable to me that some people can describe such an experience as underwhelming, but hey ho that’s separate realities for you! Enjoy and savour!Written July 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Meander188378911003 contributionsThis is one of our favourite walks, when we come back to Arran. We planned to walk up from the main road. So we called in to buy a picnic from The Shore. We ordered three sandwiches! I can't say how awesome/amazing the food was, it made the day. The ingredients were first class. So much more than just a boring sandwich. The walk is quite steep in places, walking shoes and smidge are the bare requirements. It took us about 35 minutes to get to the top. The spectacle of the waterfall is a joy to behold! If you take a picnic and get to the top about 12.30, everyone else has gone down to get their lunch and you can enjoy the scene to yourself! there is a picnoc table, but no shelter! 10/10!Written August 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David WEdinburgh, UK1 contributionVery enjoyable tour. Our family 13-59 all had a great time. I learned several things about whisky I hadn't from others. They do two main malts one (Kildonan) has subtle flavours and and the Corricravie is very peaty but not as on your face as say a Talisker.Written December 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tanky788Bedfordshire, UK182 contributionsA fabulous trip across the inlet of the Firth of Clyde to Holy Isle off The Isle of Arran - approx 15 mins from pier to pier Lamlash - Hole isle ↔️ need to book in advance with Lamlash Cruises- at time of review £24 PP (Adult) £16 ( child 5-16) 🤔 you may feel £24 is a little high for a 15 min ferry trip but this is not a funded service it’s private enterprise & good value for money in my mind 👌.. safe professional engaging knowledgeable staff & an efficient service, unless you want to swim across for free 😁..
Holy isle itself a fascinating place almost like a prehistoric island 🏝️- ultimately as a day visitor you get a 4hr window to walk the island including going across the top to the summit of “Mullach Mor” there are ferries that run morning & afternoon services.
It’s a steady amble up to the top with some mild scrambling at the far end down to the lighthouses if you decide on going to the summit - alternatively you can just walk/hike the majority of the coastline just not the North Side -
If you are lucky you may see the peregrine falcon that resides on the south shore ✅.. all together a fabulous walk/hike & view if the weather gods are favourable 😀👌🏴Written July 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But that's a different story. The staff are caring friendly and helpful. The amenities are second to none.
And, of course the price is very reasonable. A great place to spend time on yourself when the weather is inclement.

Good signage throughout, with some access to an upper floor, and side corridor. Won't take more than 20-30 minutes to explore the entire site, but well worth checking out.Written November 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
