I was expecting a hill climb but this definitely made me work hard for an early morning adventure! - Sonia1992_EdiEdinburgh, UK18 contributionsAbsolutely nothing to complain about, everything was perfectly organised, from the stunning visitor route which covers all the interesting areas of the yacht and its extraordinary history, to the audio guide (simple and easy to use). I did not see so many members of the staff, just at the audio guide distribution point and in just one single point on the boat. - Bridget S4 contributionsPrimarily went to see the Audubon exhibit (he is one of my favorites) and was blown away by the entire Museum! I ended up there for hours. There is such a variety of exhibits. I found myself saying "Okay - just look at this next wing and then head out" over and over. Don't miss the rooftop terrace through the History of Scotland section. Booked this for something to do whilst visiting Edinburgh. I didn't expect it to be so good, we really enjoyed it all, lots of fun interactive images etc.

Her embroidery work is preserved and under glass. Portraits of Mary are in a grand room. The furniture is very nice. This is the more formal of the palaces on The Royal Mile. Reservations required. A dress belonging to Queen Victoria is on display. The Guide is educational and you can see he knows what he’s talking about it. For the tasting, it’s best to take the Gold option, which gives you 4 additional tasting. We wanted to book the option with food pairing, but we were leaving the next time. We have watched the show many times over the years but it is lame in comparison to the real thing.
The ambiance, the volume, the audience participation...everything.
We were here during the Edinburgh festival, so the streets were full but the lines to the concert which holds 8000 seats, moves extremely quickly with the help of the many police and military personel.
We were lucky enough to have great weather throughout the show.

We booked the boattrip including 11/2 hour stop on the island. The weather was nice and we had brought some lunch which we enjoyed on the bay/beach next to the abbey. The abbey itself is still closed, which we knew, but you can still see plenty and get a good view from the top of the island. Nice walk up to the top and wind your way down around the hill. Plenty of viewing points and lots of birds!
The toilets were clean and there is a wee shop where you can get souvenirs and some soft drinks. The trip to the island was a bit rough but most people found that good fun i think. Lots of seals in the rocky island before you get to Incholm which was really nice and we got to see all 3 bridges from the water. You would not see the full scale from the train line that crosses it.
There are otherview points, especially from the Forth Bridges Viewpoint.

Everyone from the gate attendant to the guides was extremely kind and helpful. This estate is beautiful and full of history. The guide, Jennifer, was so helpful and knowledgable on Outlander information, but she also gave me so much history about the estate itself.
