I’m an old seasoned trout angler, and since I was a lad I’ve always dreamed of landing a salmon. I’ve hooked fish before, but never really had one stick, so it is fair to say that this had become a lifelong dream.
I got in touch with Scotia after reading Callum’s reviews, my main goal being to catch a fish, but I also wanted to refresh my fly-casting, and get advice on ‘reading’ the river.
I got all that, and more. Callum’s professionalism is unquestionable; he calmly and patiently tolerated and tweaked my casting ‘technique’, but he also knew where to fish, how, and with what. This resulted in me hooking (and unfortunately, losing) two fish and then finally hooking and playing a seventeen-pound fish, with Callum expertly netting it.
Throughout the day, Callum was great company and he made me feel relaxed, and it is clear that he not only values his guests, but he is interested in them and in making their day as perfect as possible.
I’m not going to lie, I’m a pensioner now and the day really stretched my budget, but it was an experience that I’ll never forget and was worth every penny. I went with no expectation other than a great day out (as a trout angler I know that fish and the weather sometimes just don’t want to play), but what I experienced was better than a great day. It was truly a red-letter day.
Oh, and the lunch was great, too. I look forward to my next guided session with Scotia, and I can’t praise them high enough.

    Mick is a great teacher!
We had a mixed group of four fishers, some who had never fished before. Mick had everyone casting well enough to try a variety of techniques in no time!
He was knowledgeable about flies that would work, and even though the ponds were quiet, we caught fish!
Even though we booked late, Mick worked with us to find a time that worked. He was well organized and ready for us when we arrived.
We had a great half day fishing! Would highly recommend Mick!!

Alba Game Fishing, and specifically Stewart Collingsworth, are amazing! I spent a wonderful day trout fishing the Whiteadder River. Although I landed no big fish, there were plenty willing to play with us. The quality of Stewart’s guiding, his personal charm and obvious fishing expertise made it a grand experience. Alba is an efficient, well run, professional operation and I highly recommend them.

JJ was the ultimate guide for our brown trout fishing experience. 12 guys...some very experienced and some with little to no experience. It didn't matter - they all caught fish and had a great time. JJ was patient and certainly did all he could to get the guys on fish, even in tough conditions. It was better than we could have asked for, and we can't wait to do it again.

We recently went on the 4 Day Wonders of Scotland tour guided by the lovely Alberto. It was the best 4 days of our whole trip in the UK. Alberto was the most fantastic driver/guide and full of so many facts, history and secrets about Scotland. He’d often take us to an “Alberto Secret” along the way that was either an amazing viewpoint, beautiful scenery or a tucked away building or garden to visit. We loved learning more about Scotland and exploring the Highlands, it was everything we wanted it to be and so much more.

We were super comfortable and safe in the van, the highlights and stops we had were varied and excellent. We saw so many castles, sensational highland scenery, whiskey distilleries, beautiful gardens, amazing cathedrals and chapels, cute highland cows and so much more.

Opting for the accommodation included option was such a relief for us and we had a comfortable place to rest our heads each night with a full breakfast the next day to prepare us for the day.

Thank you so much, 10/10 would use them again for our next Scotland adventure ☺️

I did a two day guided fishing trip with Anglers Jaunt.

Had a fantastic time! Stan is a very knowledgeable guide, that goes out of his way to make sure you have a great day of fishing. Everything was provided, including transport, home-made lunches and good quality fishing gear.

I learned lots, enjoyed the conversations about fishing and the traditions that surrounds salmon fishing and spending time in this beautiful part of Scotland.

Thanks Stan, I hope to be back soon!

I just had one day in Edinburgh. I was so glad to be able to fish just outside the city. The Loch and its surroundings were so beautiful that the rain didn’t damper the day. Mik is a jam-up fisherman and pleasant to spend the day with. He will make you feel like you can cast a fly even when you know you’re a hopeless spazz.

Pulling in the fish and casting the rod.
Dodd was my instructor and what a great job he did showing me what to do.
I'm a quick learner you can tell on the photo my smile holding the fish.

Very disappointed with a bespoke private tour of 8 days organised by Lang Atholl for 6 visitors from France. The luxury car we ordered was not provided, the driver unable to use satnav and lost his way en route to each programmed destination. He had no file with tickets for a ferry crossing or venues already prepaid. He had no smart phone so we were obliged to use our personal phones to contact the agency to forward us the ticket information for each step of our trip. A very stressful holiday and we certainly could not recommend this tour operator to anyone planning a similar holiday in Scotland!

As a novice angler you are always looking for some guidance about files and places to fish, particularly when you visit a new water.
We'll I received that in abundance from Rudy and Darren and the team at Clubbiedean Fishery which sits around 900 feet above the city of Edinburgh (near Bonaly Scout Camp) in the stunning Pentland Hills.
This well-stocked, family-run fishery is a pleasure to fish and the sport can be second-to-none with 2lb to 3lb trout proving tough fighters.
I bagged three beauties on my last visit, despite a chill east wind which whipped in over the dam and made fly selection difficult.
Boat and bank fishing is available and you always received a warm welcome and a pre/post coffee or tea from the cosy caravan which acts as the nerve centre.
Fellow fishermen are also extremely helpful so give Clubbiedean a try and, if you do, I hope you enjoy tight lines like I did.
