I arranged a private tour with him to 3 castles in Outlander for my husband and I when our cruise ship stopped in Scotland 1 day. He created a timeline and itinerary specific for our ships times. My husband had no knowledge of Outlander before this and loved Stuart and truly enjoyed the whole day! Stuart even introduced us to a local Scottish beverage and had snacks for us for the day. He was a true pleasure and made our day in Scotland remarkable. The entire experience with Iconic tours from start to finish was absolutely perfect. I engaged with Will to answer some initial questions and also to confirm the booking. Will was very responsive, very efficient and worked with us to customize our driving tour. Scott was our tour guide for the driving tour and was absolutely amazing. I have had a dozen+ different tour guides during my trips to Europe and I can say Scott was the best tour guide I have ever had. He was extremely knowledgeable, flexible, funny and engaging. We had lots of great conversation during the entire tour, it was great!! Stewart and his team are ultimate professionals, and the epitome of "Scottish hospitality"! Even on a cool, partly-rainy day in Scotland, were were comfortable the entire day thanks to Stewart. We are devoted "Outlander" fans from the US, but thanks to the TV show we're now very fascinated with Scottish history. Stewart did a fantastic job weaving the facts and fiction into a most memorable day. Even if you're not familiar with the TV show, all of the places we toured have major historical significance. Will is a wealth of information on all things Scottish and is very humorous too. He’s also an expert on Scotch whisky!
Things we saw - The Kelpies (amazing horse sculptures), Sterling Castle (exterior only; information Will provided on the history of Sterling Castle was great), Highland Cows! (adorable - we felt like children feeding them), lunch at a small restaurant with excellent fish and chips, stone circle, lochs, pub stop, chocolate shop (so delicious).

I highly recommend this private tour to anyone looking for a unique and personalized way to explore the area. Me and my wife wanted to get the local perspective on the Scottish country side and not to just see get from one tourist stop to another. Jimmy was our guide for the day he really delivered that and made our experience incredibly enjoyable and stress-free. Even before we met, he was extremely proactive and punctual, calling and texting us with all the pickup details and any tickets we should have booked and ready the day of the trip. He was on time in the morning and did a great job throughout the day with managing our schedule for each stop and accounting for traffic and dropping us off an picking us up at every stop with details on how to avoid any crowds or lines. We felt safe and relaxed at all time with Jimmy driving. As we approached the twisty roads of the Highlands, we also realized how important it is to have an expert driver who knows these roads like the back of his hand. Jimmy knew where to slow down and let the speeding bikes and buses through, and an no point did get aggravated, frustrated or distracted, which made us feel super safe. He was extremely courteous and attentive to our interests and flexible to shifting the schedule and agenda to our desires. We ended up leaving some stops early and instead have a sit down lunch. Jimmy catered to our personal lunch preference and provided a great restaurant recommendation that we thoroughly enjoyed ! That personal touch was invaluable to us and felt so different from any larger group or megabus tours that we took in the past. The private setting also allowed for deeper conversations and a more immersive experience. Jimmy was not only informative but also warm and engaging, making the entire day feel like an adventure with a friend. He also managed to do all this while remaining very professional and proper, letting us nap on the way back and not pryiny, bringing up any controversial topics and minimizing chatter by end of the day, when everyone was already tired. Book this trip if you want to maximize what you see in one day and to have a personable and honest guide who cares about making your day special. We would love to come back and take our kids along for a tour with Jimmy next time ! - DVB1 contributionOur family vacation in Scotland was truly elevated by Monarch Tours. After considering several operators, we chose Monarch due to Chris's seamless communication and his thoroughness in addressing our inquiries. We selected the Glencoe and Highlands driving tour.
On the day of the tour, Chris arrived punctually in his immaculate Land Rover Discovery. He took the time to understand our interests and meticulously personalized the itinerary accordingly. A true Scotsman, Chris's in-depth knowledge of Scotland's history and culture greatly enriched our experience. He guided us to off-beat spots with breathtaking, unobstructed views while avoiding crowds.
Preferring to have lunch outdoors, Chris found us a quaint spot by the water with benches, perfect for a picturesque picnic in the Highlands. Sensing my enthusiasm for Harry Potter, he expertly timed our visit to the Glenfinnan Viaduct so we could witness the famous steam train.
Chris is an engaging conversationalist, ensuring our long drives were anything but dull. His thoughtful gestures and his spontaneous personalizations made this trip unforgettable. I was in contact with Chris in advance to describe some physical limitations my mom had, and Chris carefully planned a perfect day for us outside of Edinburgh. His knowledge and humor, paired with his conscientious concern for my mom’s abilities, made for one of the top memories of our entire trip. Castles, villages, a trip to a loch, Highland cattle, and a thorough weaving of history and present-day Scotland. Chris is not only a great guide/driver but a walking encyclopedia of Scottish and world history. - MarkMilwaukee, WI5 contributionsWill treated us to a fantastic day tour that included stops at the Kelpies and the Stirling Castle before a drive to the Highlands. Get lunch at Mohr’s! We weren’t able to test his seemingly endless knowledge of Scottish history and culture, but we tried. His easy going style and sense of humor made the day fly by. And his driving skills were excellent - there was not a moment of driving excitement despite the occasionally narrow and winding roads.
