Took a jaunt here from where I was staying in Leith and is an absolute must when in Edinburgh! Best enjoyed on a typically-Scottish windy day to blow the cobwebs away!

My favourite place in Edinburgh. On the day we visited we were lucky to have clear skies and no rain. Its a bit of a climb to the top but the views are amazing and there is a real sense of tranquility. The panoramic views of the city are difficult to capture on camera as it just doesn't do it justice. You can also see Arthur's seat in all its splendour without climbing it ! Worth a visit and a great way to end a day

The gardens are well worth visiting on most months of the year.
I’d have rated it 5 out of 5 had it not been for the queue to order coffee and then the wait for your buzzer to tell you it’s ready.
Incredibly poorly organised. Head’s should roll!

Beautiful area of Edinburgh well worth a visit simply for the lovely walks in the peaceful surroundings. Arthur's Seat is a must see if you're in the city and Holyrood Park is certainly the place to walk, have a picnic and spend some quality time in the fresh air with gorgeous scenery all around you. The views are stunning and second to none.
You'll be in no hurry to leave and have every reason to return.

*My visit was in October but owing to family illness I am only just getting around to reviewing my trip to Edinburgh now*

I visited Edinburgh Zoo twice during my trip to the city. The first was a full day and the second was to kill a few hours before my train home.

Both times I enjoyed my visit. I was thrilled to see Yang Guang and Tian Tian before they left. It was something that has been on my bucket list for years after watching them on the webcam for years, and I got to see them by the end of both visits.

A common theme I found around the zoo was all of the animals were clearly well loved and cared for. The only thing I would say is the windows in the chimp house were filthy so it was hard to get photos and see them at times. I also struggled to find the lion and giant anteater enclosures but got there in the end.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was nice and good service. I will definitely return someday.

We arrived early and checked in then walked to the Royal yacht via the leith walkway - it was lovely and a great way to fight off jet lag and get some fresh air and sunshine. Well marked and we saw lots of locals on the way

The Pentlands Hills have several hills in sequence which make for a challenging half day hike. One that we like to do is Carnethy Hil, Scald Law, West Kip and East Kip, then return in the opposite direction. This would take about 4 hours although the latter 3 hills are steep that will leave a lot of people breathless. It can also get very windy to the point where you're being blown a couple of metres.

There's also flatter routes on the north side of the reservoirs which do eventually take hikers to the aforementioned hills as well. However, there are so many options for hiking routes, these hills have plenty of revisit value

There is a good sized car park next to the Pentland Hills Cafe Express which is a good starting point for all walks.

Our Edinburgh tour guide brought us here as our first stop and wow, what a treasure! This place is a quiet oasis in the busy zone that is Edinburgh. The garden is literally a "secret garden" like the stories of old, featuring incredible beauty and wildlife, especially birds. Take your time here and ENJOY all the natural beauty.

Nice open park space on the south of the city centre. Could walk to the Royal Mile in about 25 minutes and not far from the Commonwealth pool either. Big student population in this area. During the festival very busy. Tennis courts and other activities available.

Visited for the first time mainly for Fort douglas.
The kids really enjoyed fort douglas, there was plenty for them to do and didn't want to leave at the end of the session.
We had noticed the tunnel going under the bridge on the way in but as we were already running a bit behind we told them they could do it on the way out so we left just under 10mins before end of session to find they had closed it because it was "end of session". Our kids were very disappointed so we just brought them up to use it after the next session started since it hd been closed early.

We visited the kitchen, it had a nice atmosphere and staff seemed friendly enough. Menu is a bit limited in my opinion but we all still found something we liked.

I'd say downside is the cost of parking being £3 when the Fort and the restaurant isn't exactly cheap for a family, it would be good if parking could be free for those that are going to pay in other areas or at very least a bit cheaper.
