Visited Edinburgh second week of January and my son and I decided to climb Arthur's Seat. All the touristy things we did this was the best experience. There are different paths to climb, some more difficult then the others. I believe we choose the hardest climb. I'm 75 and about 150 metres up I'm thinking to myself how will rescue be able to get me down. I made it and well worth it. What a fabulous view. We took the easy way down and walked the road that surrounds the park. That also is a good walk. I highly recommend the climb.

    Must see in Edinburgh

We had been up,Arthur’s Seat and the receptionist at our hotel said we must go to Carltons Hill….the views are incredible as they are at Arthur’s Seat. Easier climb ( but still tough on the legs for even the young and fit) but it is more than worth it for the views at the top. Views are stunning along with all of the historic monuments that are at the top. All abilities can see this as it is very accessible from different routes. Must see and awe inspiring!

I had a quick visit here to look around and have a gentle stroll. The glasshouses are currently closed for refurbishment.

Had a nice walk through the gardens, quite sheltered from the wind as it is in a valley. The fountain looked lovely

Like anywhere, this is obviously a lovely place to come on a nice day. Nice flat areas for runners and walkers and plenty of opportunity for more ambitious walkers up the hills. Great views near the top.

What a lovely beach. Visited with my wife and 2 teenage kids whilst on a mini break To Edinburgh. It was a nice sunny day so went in search of a beach and wasn't disappointed.

Had an amazing day with Bob and his alpacas. It was such a feel good experience. I will be back. I think the alpacas might be sick of me by the end of the year.

Fantastic family day out, we had an great time here with friends and family recently seeing all the amazing animals.

On arrival we were greeted with a large free car park, which was a bonus.

Easy booking system online and very friendly reception staff on arrival

The zoo is quite hilly, but it was nice to be able to walk around at your own pace, taking in all the amazing animals, in their enclosures with all the viewing areas/windows so you get a better view.

So many highlights, from Giraffes, to the Zebras, Penguins to the meerkat, too many to mention.

A few cafes dotted around, but quite expensive, £5 for a basic sandwich, I noticed a few people brought their own a picnic, which would be my preferred option on next visit as plenty of outdoor seating options.

Overall though a very enjoyable day out.

Short time with so much to see. Take advantage of all that the castle has to offer. So much history in one stop is amazing.

The pay to enter kids play area is bags of fun. Something for all ages. All very well made and sturdy too. Had to book for a specific timeslot which you could only stay for the allocated time which made it a little less flexible for us. With a 20 month old, flexibility is key! I'm not sure if this is a covid thing or normal practice.

Overall a fun experience. Would have given 5 stars but their kiosk selling food was quite expensive. They should also have free water fountains instead of offering small bottles of water for £1.

Pedestrian and cycle lanes snaked around the park, with open grass areas for sports and relaxing. Tennis courts and a large play park closer to the Newington side. Exercise equipment scattered throughout the park. Tree-lined paths are beautiful in the spring and summer when the blossoms appear. Popular space for outside gatherings such as BBQs and sports events.

Lovely lunch today under the canopy. Small menu but definitely delicious and enjoyed by all. Staff were attentive and added bonus of being at a plant nursery!

Come here often to walk/run. Very peaceful paths beside the river with chance of seeing wildlife in amongst the trees. Popular with dog walkers, families and those exercising. Can get muddy after rainfall but mostly okay if you stick to the main path. Close by to Blackford Hill, Blackford Pond and also Braid Hills. A lovely green space in the midst of the city.
