Watched a movie on Sunday afternoon and booked first class seats and what an experience! We ordered some Prosecco in the bar and brought to our seats. And the seats are superwide, reclining and extremely comfortable.

This was my second visit to the Cameo but my first for a good few years. The Cameo is a traditional cinema and is over 100 years old. This time I went with my brother to see DIO: Dreamers Never Die. We were in screen 1 and I loved the ornate feel to the theatre. The film was good however it was somewhat spoiled by a group of people who talked through the entire film. I was disappointed by the limited range of snacks which would benefit from the addition of nachos. I would rate the cinema as a 3.5 however the facility for half marks doesn't exist which is why I gave it a 4. The Cameo shows films that more mainstream cinemas don't, which is good, however the overall experience could be better.

The tickets are a couple of pounds more expensive compared to some cinemas but this cinema has recliners and swing-out tables which is rather fun. The hotdog I had was fine if not a bit expensive for what it was. The nachos were pretty bad though the guacamole tasted really fake and the salsa tasted really sweet. Apart from that, it is a nice cinema and the staff were really friendly.

Picture and sound quality was good, but everything else was very ‘meh.’ The cinema is very, very outdated and is due a refurbishment. The ticket prices are good but food is absolutely extortionate. £4 for a bag of Magic Stars…Really? Popcorn was ok, but didn’t taste very fresh. The staff member on till was very friendly, however the one at the ticket podium was blunt and looked a bit miserable. There really ought to be a seating area for when you’re waiting to get into your screen. All in all it was ok, won’t be back in a rush though

    Clean today cinema
    Friendly polite staff
Plenty of screens with escalator’s going up or down from the main entrance
Prices if snacks and drinks way overpriced - minstrels etc prices at £3.99! Way over double shops price , small popcorn almost £6 but as others have mentioned you can take your own in .
Recliners are comfy enough and come with a small table for drink and snacks.
Find it odd that the tree seats we booked the tow on the end were marginally higher than the rest of the row which meant one of us was sat at a lower height - felt a tad odd.

Seats weren't great and the cinema room was pretty cold, we had to sit with our jackets on all night!

On the top of the St James Quarter, complete with an impressive entrance bar, this is the stylish place to watch a mainstream movie in Edinburgh.
