This was the first thing I decided I wanted to do in Edinburgh. Entry is part of the castle fee which is good. Active military get in free.
The exhibition is very good and as a military enthusiast this is among the best.
However we were told we weren’t allowed to leave our stroller in a very clear empty corner of the lobby and this was highly annoying. Having pushed the thing all day, it would have been gracious to allow it to be left in a quiet corner where it obstructed nothing.

This was the second visit that my wife and I have made to this museum and it still fascinates both of us, predominantly as I am a veteran of twenty-four years service in the Army, and my wife was the daughter of a soldier. Our last visit was in October 2022, and although the museum was closed for the Winter, Ian, the owner, let us have a quick look around for free as we were on our way back to Leicester. This time the museum was fully open, and so much has changed in the few months since we last visited. There's so much to see, and as reported in my last review, if you are in any way interested in militaria then you will love this place. We would both highly recommend this museum, and it's certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Interesting museum showing the history of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. It is with the castle, so included in the main admission price.

I visited the house for a pre-booked Halloween Tour. The tour was fantastic with lots of historical information about the house and surrounding area, alongside some spooky stories that tie into Scottish history and lore. The tour was run by Nicola who was fantastic and all the staff were lovely.
Trinity House is a beautiful building with lots to see. It would be nice if there was more information regarding the collections on display but the house runs guided tours so there is the opportunity to ask staff questions.
The tour ran with around 10-15 people which seemed a bit cramped in terms of covid but everyone wore masks.
I recommend anyone in the area to check the house out but check the website as you need to pre-book onto a tour and they are limited at the moment to specific events (i.e Halloween, Christmas).
This is a great find for people interested in maritime history or just lovers of historical buildings.

While the crown jewels are the highlight of this exhibition there is much history about the Scottish monarchy, their lineage and conflict as well as the room where Mary Queen of Scots gave birth and other rooms recreated from the past.
The crown jewels are the highlight of and a culmination of all displays here
