- jeangarling11Ontario, Canada3 contributionsMy visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse was absolutely incredible! The palace is stunning, with beautifully preserved rooms, fascinating history, and a real sense of grandeur. Walking through the historic chambers, including Mary, Queen of Scots’ apartments, was like stepping back in time. The audio guide was excellent, providing just the right amount of detail to bring the history to life.
The ruined Holyrood Abbey and the palace gardens were another highlight—peaceful, picturesque, and full of character. The views of Arthur’s Seat in the background make for some stunning photos. The whole experience was well-organized, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Whether you’re interested in royal history or just looking for a beautiful place to explore, Holyrood Palace is a must-visit when in Edinburgh. - Emu15Edinburgh, UK52 contributionsI’ve been keen to see this chapel for years…and passed by it today and it was open. A very knowledgeable gentleman told me the fascinating history of the chapel. Built just before the reformation in 1540’s as a Catholic chapel, then supported by the Guild of Hammernan as a Protestant place of worship till the late 1800’s
