What travelers are saying
- WhollyRouleurGreenville, SC2 contributionsI had been looking for literally years for a replacement suit wallet that had long since worn out. While on a stop in Edinburgh during recent travels, my wife found Mackenzie Leather and we knew we had to pay a visit.
We arrived in the shop and were warmly greeted by the staff and the amazing smell of fine leather. We shared our desire to find a replacement wallet and to our amazement were shown a work in progress piece that fit exactly what I was seeking.
Even better than my original wallet, they created a bespoke piece for which I selected the leather color, finishing options, and other details. About five weeks later I received my finished piece shipped by Royal Mail in the States - earlier than promised.
The entire process was a 5-star experience from start to finish. Highly recommend Mackenzie Leather to anyone who values quality leather goods and highest standard of professionalism in their craft.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I particularly liked the chocolate-chili which I bought. You can try the fudge before you decide which one to buy. I will go back there!Written August 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ben G1 contributionA really wonderful experience! I learned a ton in the old and rare whisky tasting and got some great suggestions for purchase based on what I liked best in the tasting. If I’m ever back in Edinburgh I will be back Jeffrey Street!Written July 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SamWil95Kemnay, UK3 contributionsWithout doubt the best service I’ve ever received from any whisky retailer. I had been searching far and wide for a particular bottle and just when I had lost all hope, the guys at Cadenheads in Edinburgh were able to go above and beyond to help me out. The service I have received from Tony has been outstanding from the first phone call to the last and I could not have asked for more. I had planned on stopping in to collect, but a last minute delay had stopped me from getting in. Tony was able to arrange everything over email and now my order is currently being dispatched this very second! They’ve truly gained a customer for life.Written February 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- IsabelleD772Calgary, Canada3 contributionsWe're not gift shop people as we find them tacky and mass produced. This is not it! Has tons a great and more unique jewellery, books, art, etc. We bought a print from a Scottish artist and had it shipped. Despite the careful packaging, it arrived to us damaged. Eve was very quick at sending us a replacement, which arrived this time in perfect condition.Written August 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - William HWashington DC, DC12 contributionsWe went to the Marshmallow Lady today and she’s great and the marshmallows are great.
I particularly recommended the toasted marshmallows. She had the brilliant idea to toast marshmallows and then put toasted chunks into untoasted marshmallows for a wonderful toastiness throughout.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We bought a small Scottish Brie style cheese which was so nice with the French baton, Charcuterie and homemade butter we also purchased, it's so important to have these small independent 'old school' shops, they make a visit to such an historic area a real pleasure.Written January 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - M HÖsterreich41 contributionsVery good service.. As I´m no particular whiskey drinker I was a bit overburdened with all the different ones. Very friendly and helpful stuff, they advised me really good! They are very knowledgeable, too. A good friend of mine asked me to bring back a bottle of Scotch Single Malt for her husband. Mission accompleshed! I even found a whiskey that I bought for myself there! Will be back!Written August 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BarbaraBarbaraMurphy, TX2 contributionsLove, love, love this place. They have a huge selection of local artists with decor items as well as tourist interest items. So many artists within, maybe almost 75. Fun, as well as culturally significant items made by local artists feel good about your shopping! And fabulously helpful staff.Written April 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Moyra M7 contributionsSuch a lovely shop with a super owner. So friendly and patient!
A real gem in Leith full of gifts, jewellery, bags, cards and so much more.
I bought a lovely tasselled leather bag. And hoping to get another when I return. I went there with my daughters.
Have told all my friends, up here in the highlands, to be sure to visit!
I love the little 'thank you' card, included with my purchase.

It was a very clean establishment and you can get quite a good variation in a box.Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David HWinnipeg, Canada4 contributionsAn amazing little shop. The manager really knows his business, he was able to explain all the differently sourced stones, and where they came from, and how they were sourced. We were able to find a beautiful set of earrings made of the marble from Isle of Skye, to commemorate our trip there. Great experience.Written July 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dominic M1 contributionThank you to Rachel for making my Black Watch kilt. It was a very easy process from measurements to delivery considering I am in America. Will be back again to get some trouser’s,

I could have stayed and shopped a lot more, and I would have wanted to chat to the owner a lot more, but I didn't want to keep him, it was a busy afternoon.
I very much look forward to reading "Neolithic Shamanism" now, feeling my Scandinavian roots tingle.Written August 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
