We visited to experience the light show at Christmas "Christmas at the Botanics". Lots of lovely displays, however there were often walks between each one. More of a light trail than a full light display experience, and definitely more like an hour at most rather than the 90 minutes advertised. Helpful staff, and food and hot drinks were available to purchase. We enjoyed our visit.

First visit and it was great. Really lovely place with lots to see - the art work being the focus but the beautiful walks are a highlight as well. Nice lunch in the quirky cafe. Weather was lovely which helped. Definitely recommend a visit.

A really nice friendly market to visit. Good family friendly vibe. Great coffee at the first stall. Lots of nice home made and individual stuff to buy.

This is a lovely gallery for fine art and weaving. Check the times so you can go to the gallery and observe the weavers at work and do stop at the art gallery. We were there in late September for the Scottish Women Artists exhibition which is super and continues until early January I believe.

Not a large market but has a good range of businesses & products, lovely location next to the castle and well arranged. Certainly worth a visit for both locals & tourists.

I dearly wish that the Edinburgh City Art put on a Celtic Revival Exhibition, especially a retrospective on John Duncan, one of Edinburgh's greatest artists.

There's three or four of John Duncan's paintings in the City Arts Centre. He brings such beautiful colour and detail to the canvas to bring a wonderful portrayal of Celtic folklore. You can see he was influenced by the pre-Raphaelites especially Rossetti and Italian art frescos.

The arts centre has the superb Tristan & Isolde the classic mythical Romeo & Juliet tale of forlorn love. They hold the love potion that will make them love each other for eternity, but it was not to be, Isolde is betrothed to King Mark of Cornwall. Tristan is taking Isolde on a ship from Ireland to Cornwall for her wedding. Their tale more or less ends like Romeo & Juliet.

Go across to the Scottish National Gallery and see Duncan's magnificent Saint Bride. At first glance I did not see Saint Bride, I just was mesmerised by the two angels. The designs on their cloaks details Christ's story. Wonderful.

I have been going here on a regular basic and realise I have been taking it completely for granted until I had a dreadful experience at a pretentious and shambolic fleapit (Everyman at Saint James Centre).
This place is the exact opposite. Easy to buy tickets, easy access, the staff are incredibly helpful. Even the smallest screens are large and easily viewed while the bigger screens are enormous.
The entrance hall is a bit like an aircraft hanger, but you don't get pestered or charged for incredibly expensive and inedible extras like at Everyman.
I won't be going back to Everyman, but we will certainly going back often to Odeon Fort Kinnaird.

Such an eclectic curation of artists in so many media meant we were glad we’d allowed enough time. Well worth a visit if your anywhere near Portobello.

The space is filled to the brim with charming, beautiful, unique and sometimes funny items (prints, earrings, pins, jewelry, tea towels, lots more!). I believe most are local-ish-ly made. This is a much better place to get a unique gift for yourself or a friend than the many tourist trap stores which all blend together. I always find something delightful whenever I go, and I make it a point to go there every time I'm in Edinburgh!

Lovely little farmer's market in the centre of Leith on a Saturday. Worth it to have a little wonder about and see if there's anything you'd like.

Visited EP as part of Open Days events and it was a fantastic experience. We were hosted by EP Archive Manager, Elaria, who took us around the building and showed us some behind-the-scenes areas, normally inaccessible to public. We were able to spend some time in printing workshop and see printmakers working in the studio, and then in the archive. Elaria is a fountain of knowledge and told us about the long history of the building and its social importance to Edinburgh and local community. She also explained so much about printmaking and different techniques and patiently answered all the questions, even after the tour ended.
It was a fascinating visit and I will certainly be back again to see the exhibition.

Small , uber stylish gallery and dedicated production hub.
The Miyako exhibition is stunning and thought provoking . The effect of time on both the human body and our prized personal items is graphic and brave, considering the constant advance of youth driven media (apologise ? ok, a wee bit)
This iconic Japanese photographer is of the post war generation yet so relevant. The Frida shoes were my Nike Nirvana I suppose but the red diving suit so sums up her political core.
XXL thanks to John who was 101% in the know and dealt with our questions perfectly. John also let us go through the photographic journal books which showed linked photos from the three collections.
Ishiuchi Miyako was unknown to me but thanks to the exhibition , I've had a 'wee wake up call' and we all need that post Covid.

Five minutes from the madness of the Mile , the oldest remaining part of the University
    awaits.
Firstly, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the Old College quadrangle then step into the gallery's modern 'white cube spaces' and its dramatic 19th century gallery.
The current Festival exhibition here hosts installations and artwork by Celine Condorelli. It's an inventive and inspiring collection and her use of materials is highly original.
Welcoming ,helpful staff. Free entrance. Kids'activity pack linked to the exhibition available .
