- pakabayAdelaide, Australia2,050 contributionsVictoria Square shopping centre in a bright new addition to the City of Belfast, with your typical high street & global brand retailers.
The highlight, by far, is the observation deck. It’s free to access, you tan take the stairs or elevator and the views of Belfast and the surrounding area is quite amazing. It’s a great piece of architecture and offers a completely different view of the city.Written May 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not sure I’m an artist or an art critic but found some of the works very interesting and thought provoking.
Gallery seemed very welcoming and front of house staff was very friendly, informative and helpful. Would feel encouraged to visit more galleries and come back in the future.Written September 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I have always heard great things about here and I was quite disheartened when I arrived here. There wasn’t much of a selection of shops in my opinion, the layout of the centre was quite cluttered. I wouldn’t want to be returning to this centre in a big hurry.Written August 25, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - D'booBallymena, UK36 contributionsThis shopping centre thrives where others are finding it hard to keep the businesses in it. It’s always a pleasure to visit the Kennedy Centre which has a nice number of shops and eateries on offer to visit. Well worth a visit.Written June 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BelfastFoodTravelManBelfast, UK5,961 contributionsThis gallery is situated above the no 31 Coffee Shop and is very contemporary. - Princess & JohnBelfast, UK39 contributionsA feast for the eyes as this must be one of the most beautiful buildings in Belfast. Sadly there are no shops inside or even a cafe nowadays. Princess and I visited a few weeks ago. The building does have a wee museum as you go in from the Great Victoria St entrance. It's run by the Presbyterian church who also have their historical society office there. The museum has some very interesting exhibits including old bibles and church artifacts. Worth a visit. The clock tower bells ring out on the the hours.Written September 19, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CiaraSlevinNorthern Ireland, UK2,641 contributionsMy first visit, 07/09/2017, introduced me to a gallery I've heard much about. It lived up to it's reputation. Brimming with challenging, contemporary art tackling the big issues of our time, Catalyst is not for the faint-hearted. This uber-cool, industrial, warehouse suits the art it showcases (installation, conceptual, screen etc) and the radical art on display perfectly suits the space.
Numerous artists were represented, but I was especially drawn to American/ Metis artist Dylan A T Miner's red wall hangings, called "Gesture of Solidarity". Miner deals with indigenous/ colonial themes and his banners dominated the gallery, catching the eye, demanding attention and investigation. Fantastic work.
Catalyst is volunteer run/ nonprofit and as well as serving up fascinating experimental art, it runs a range of events, screenings and activities such as the Anarchist Bookfair. Quite possibly one of the most exciting art spaces in Belfast. I'm only sorry it took me so long to get round to visiting...Written September 8, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Two sculptures really intrigued me. One artist had made these bizarre tubular, long legged dogs (see photo). They were textured and coloured like beagles, but were so surprisingly contorted. Elsewhere someone clever had woven, crochet-style, two balaclavas. They're normally black and menacing, covering the faces of paramilitaries, so this was a startling culture clash - the brutal meets the delicate, force meets finesse. Very interesting. I like to take note of artists' names, but we only arrived near closing time, and had to hurry on. I plan to go back for a better look.Written November 18, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
