We booked this trip as we fancy ourselves fans of historical locations and this exceeded whatever expectations we had in our mind.
Our guide Sandra was wonderful and so knowledgeable. She helped the time pass on each bus ride between locations with describing the locations we were driving through, as well as providing lots of information on the places we were going. I definitely recommend spending the day with her at the helm.
Stop one: Windsor Castle. We were there for around an hour and a half which provided a good amount of time to tour the State Apartments, St. George’s Chapel and saw the changing of the guards. It was so interesting to see the amount of fine art and objects that the Royal Family has amassed during their reign, but the real stunner was the ceilings and opulence of the building itself. In St George’s Chapel it was very interesting to see the place where so many of the monarchs were interred, including Elezibeth II.
Stop two: Stonehenge. This is something on many a bucket list and it really is surreal to see it in person after looking at photos for decades. I have to say, the different species of birds that call the fields around it home also caught my attention.
Stop three: Oxford University. We were amazed at the campus - which was buzzing with students and residents. The buildings were so old, so beautiful with brilliant detail on the spires. We could have spent an entire day there exploring the grounds and admiring the buildings.
At the end, if you have the chance to come to London and do a day tour, I would whole heartedly suggest this is the one you do. Beautiful, well paced and informative.
Cheers!
