I visited on a day trip from London - the castle is well sign posted from the train station and is approx a 10 min walk.

The highlight was definitely the dry moat tour - the guide was amazing and I honestly wish I could have taken him around the whole castle with me! I got alot of additional knowledge from him which I would have missed out on I feel like otherwise.

All the guides in the castle were super friendly - once approached and really knowledge and passionate.

It must be 30 years since our last visit. It has improved and lots to see. Full of interest and history. Lovely rural setting. New shop and restaurant impressive. Unfortunately we were parked in the overflow area which is a long walk to shop, restaurant and picnic area. The Repair Shop Barn was disappointing as you could not enter the area or take a photograph. Was not expecting to go inside but still sad not to get closer.

Today was our first time at Tilgate Park

We had a wander and ended up at the “Walled Garden Community Cafe”

It’s a stunning centre and lots of outdoor tables, all with huge umbrellas.

The service was fantastic and the food came out quickly.

We all went for the sausage, mash and peas which was as good as any I’ve had it supposedly “gourmet” pubs!!

Price very reasonable, the meals we had were £8.95. Drinks also excellent value.

A huge menu to choose from and a fab kids menu. I’ve photographed the menu and put it here.

We are going back next week to hire a pedalo on the lake then lunch again the cafe.

I highly recommend going online to look at what is on offer here, especially with the kids holidays coming up.

What a great museum! For anyone with half an interest in military aviation especially though not exclusively World War 2 this museum is a must. Tangmere Fighter Station was of such importance in the defence of this country and this museum keeps it alive. So much information and so many exhibits are contained within a relatively small area that our two hour visit could not do it justice and we relish returning. It focuses very much on the individuals involved at the time from all sides of the conflict and there are many stories of heroism, stoicism, courage, tragedy as well as humour in adversity. Exhibits include parts of shot down aircraft, recovered aircraft, equipment, some very moving letters from pilots to relatives and friends (couldn’t people write well in those days!) and some rather lovely models - I liked the aircraft plotting room especially! There are also full size replicas of a Spitfire, Hurricane and Lysander and also number of newer jet fighters.

Staff are enthusiastic and knowledgable and for refreshment the Naafi (Cockpit Cafe) serves outstanding sandwiches (one between two if you only want a light snack) and a very good pot of tea. A great experience all round and highly recommended.

As a Roman archaeologist now retired ive been fortunate enough to excavate mosaic pavements but the quality and number at fishbourne just amazes. The preservation is out of this world and the museum do a great job protecting them. My only negative would be the now out of date information boards in relation to past directors. Money just isnt there to allow them to update

Visited a Rail Gala weekend and enjoyed it very much. Having a ride on a train pulled by a steam loco through the gorgeous leafy grounds is such a good way to get arround the site. A splendid museum with lots of space, lots to see, and a huge variety of exhibits.Friendly knowledgeable staff and volunters help make the day a sucess and lets not forget the spacious café...

We stopped here just to break our journey up on the way home but what a magnificent place! I was expecting a small property from the description but when we arrived we struggled to park as there were so many cars there and the site was huge. There was a large childrens activity area and a sensible route through the gardens that let you see all the attractions.
The ruined house was a wonderful backdrop and the new house was fascinating with some well dressed rooms and information on the lifestyle of the owners as well as an art gallery with paintings inspired by the gardens. The gardens had some fantastic plants and colour schemes and we spent over three hours, including a coffee in the cafe and would have stayed longer if we lived closer.

I just wanted to say a huge Thank You for providing my group with such a wonderful Afternoon Tea yesterday. Everyone really enjoyed it and I’ve been receiving thanks all day. I have no doubt that the ladies will want a repeat event at some stage and I know the you will have gained some new customers.

I hope to pop in with friends for coffee/lunch during the summer.
