The Town Hall in Birmingham City Centre is a grand affair. The building does not look like a traditional city hall, instead it reminds me of a temple.

Located in Victoria Square and close to Chamberlain Square it is not too far from the library, conference centre and symphony hall. The shopping area and Gas Street basin are also not too far away.

Magnificent imperial building. A real eye catcher. Sadly looking very unloved and run down with weeds growing out of roof and structure .

Were looking for somewhere to have a coffee and advised the university coffee shop in the old Birmingham Municipal bank was excellent so we tried it. Coffee shop was beautiful, housed in the old banking area, really good value and gorgeous surroundings. On my way out we met Peter by the entranced casually asked if he knew what the building was originally. He they gave me a potted history of the building and suggested a tour of the basement . As a child, 70 years ago I came to the bank with my father and was taken down to the basement to examine contents of his safety deposit box. I jumped at the offer nd I hour later had been taken, by Peter on a tour of the whole building. It was fascinating and so informative. So enjoyable to relive past experiences and learn so many interesting facts I was unaware of, Peter was a very knowledge guide and bought the history to life for me, thank you

Walking around the area just along Corporation Street there are some fine looking buildings, one that caught my eye was Citadel Chambers .
Home to barristers since 1909 ,a beautiful red bricked facade and turret, its such a very photogenic building, makes for some great photographic opportunities and adds to the joy of walking along Corporation Street, a street in my opinion with some of the finest architecture in this most cosmopolitan of city's.
