Our guide Rob had an amazing knowledge of the history of Newcastle. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with stops at various locations including the Grainger Market (best Cheese shop there!), Newcastle wall and the castle itself. He was amusing and full of tales from the past. Highly recommended!

Alex makes the Hadrian's wall hike fun and informative. He's really knowledgeable and suits the hiking pace to match the participants. He was extremely patient answering all of the questions I had beforehand. You will be in good hands!

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour of Newcastle with Martin. We learned a great deal about the history of Newcastle and visited places that we were not aware were there! Martin was very knowledgeable and friendly. I did worry that 3 hours may have been a little too long but the time absolutely flew by and in actual fact there was not a massive amount of walking because everything in Newcastle is quite compact and the places of interest are pretty close together. I would highly recommend this tour.

We were staying nearby and organised this to beat the usual day out.
    This was very different.
    We really enjoyed it.
It's not easy and really has you thinking.
We completed Newcastle but can't wait to look at our next one.

Our guide, Michael, was knowledgeable and very well prepared. He presented drawings and maps to help emphasize the wonderful history of all the stops we made during our walk. His local experience, having lived in the Newcastle area of England, was very colorful and passionate.

From the outside it looks like a small castle keep. None the less I wandered in and was stunned at the ÂŁ12.50 entry fee. But I paid it, and boy am I glad I did! The castle is more like a Tardis - bigger on the inside. And staffed by guides who talk at length about a subject if prompted. There is reproduction armour to try on and weapons to examine. Stocks, a pillory, demonstration for children and great views over the city. The ticket is valid for a year, so I can always go back again.

My partner and I really enjoyed being tourists in our own city. Josh, our guide, was incredibly punny which I LOVE so, thank you Josh! He was very knowledgeable and super enthusiastic. We did the tour on Friday and by writing this 2 days later I can confidently say I have told everyone I know about this tour and how good it is. Being local I did know some of the stories but it was so great hearing someone else talk about them! Time absolutely flew over and I was smiling the whole time. What I will say about the tour is that, wear comfortable shoes and if your knees aren't great take your time going down on the stairs towards the end - there's a LOT of them.

What an amazing cathedral. The history is fascinating. Loved the carved pillars. What was also amazing was the fact you did not have to pay to go in. Well done Durham.

Excellent venue for all ages. Going back to yesteryear, learning how our ancestors carried out their daily lives. Ride a Tram , the visit to the Dentist was eye watering ! A treat in the bakers , a quarter of sweets … first time in decades for us. The manor house was amazing , and a bonus a Tavern next door! So much to see and do , it could take a couple of days . We were time limited so missed a lot , mostly because the rain never stopped all day sadly. We would return .

Wonderful tour! Alex really knows his history and makes it fun and interesting as well as informative. A day well spent, I would highly recommend - for those who are knowledgeable about early Medieval England as well as those who have an interest in the subject and want to learn more.
