We came here today whilst on holiday in the area along with our dog. We booked ahead online which saves a few pounds each( there is a £1 booking fee). We were very impressed with this visitor attraction, which is very informative and educational ( there were a few school groups here too).
A lovely lady greeted us at the gate, (looking fab dressed in the wartime style), and explained the guidebook we had bought online.
The site consists of many Nissan huts as this was previously a pow camp. Each hut displays factual information along with mannequins in various domestic and military settings.
Some of the stories we read were deeply moving and some scenarios were very realistic with sound and smell special effects.
Although it is mainly the two world wars which are featured the museum also details other conflicts throughout the world up to recent times.
A very sobering experience but a worthwhile visit and good value for money we thought.

Visited this museum a few years ago and so impressed promised to return asap , it’s 250 miles away ,but pandemic put paid to that for the time being.
In the last week or so I have been in touch with a Steve, of the museum as I was carrying out research on a relative who served in WW1.
Honestly as they must be inundated with such request did not hold out much hope but the response and we has from Steve was more than exceptional, unfortunately most records we wanted were lost in WW2 but he really put his self out and gave us a lot of other help and suggestions so hopefully we can carry on looking

Well worth the £4 senior ticket.
Loads to see and a very enthusiastic young man shared his extensive knowledge with us as we wandered through.

Mum and I had a lovely time yesterday at this lovely community museum. Mark was brilliant and explained the history of Scaborough, how tough life was for fisherman and the ladies who worked with preparing fish. Had a go on the fog horn and enjoyed looking at all the interesting artefacts on display. I recommend a visit if you are in Scarborough. They have a great selection of second hand books/postcards and guidebooks too. We had a great time!

The museum was absolutely fascinating -more so as the Curator was able to help assist my husband to find out more about his own father who was in this battle .

I hadn’t been here for a few years, and as an ex Skin, decided to take my wife for a visit.

I was very much impressed by what appears to be significant investment since my last trip.

The layout is well thought out and the displays are interesting and accessible.

    It’s well worth a visit.
