It is really awesome, but…
The inside is really cool with loads of little rooms to head in and out of and explore, and the attention to detail with random objects and things on the walls are amazing.
But, none of that seems to tie in with any of what you do. We felt like we were missing something by following the “trails” which are really simplistic stories that send you from room to room to find the answer to a question. If you’re expecting a puzzle room experience then it may disappoint because there is next to no working stuff out and often you seem to be following others around on the same trail waiting to use the bit of equipment to get the answer you’ve just heard them get.
The videos they’ve created are hilarious (an absolute highlight!) And the actors are amazing with their interactions, but (another but) they seemed to be short staffed and some of the rooms were closed (not sure if meant to be) and the actors seemed really fraught at times trying to handle all the people. They came out of character a few times to complain to one another about not being able to handle the numbers in their room.
We did 2.5 trails - first we selected mystery, then adventure, but each was almost exactly the same in terms of where it sent us - so which places we “explored” for answers and who we spoke to. Again, because we were all queuing to see the same actor we ended up seeing unrelated clues and it ruined the experience a bit because they all seemed to rush through to get you your clue so they could handle the next wave of people waiting for theirs.
Half way through the third we were honestly a little bored of trekking in and out to the same spots. It seemed to just pick a mystery trail for us each time with no variety.
I really had the feeling we were missing something with it because the amazing posters, random info, objects they’ve put together were never involved in any of it. At the start the actors were running around yelling “where’s Jaspin?” (A character in the town) but there was no reference to this at all.
So awesome, but…
