    Great find.

Fab little place to learn about medical procedures from the 19th century, love the little spiral staircase / traffic light system.

I did enjoy it but it doesn't take very long to go round. Hadn't realised the shard was jut down the road too!

Worth a visit though if you are in the area (the museum).

This is an impressionist "light" exhibition with charcoal and pencil drawings not devoid of colour but without the magnificence of the traditional paintings. Even so the various artist's style is easily recognisable. The exhibition is well set out with adequate but not overwhelming descriptions on the wall. There are 3 large rooms but in some ways a fleeting view is needed. So it will not really take more than an hour to view. It was not crowded when we visited on a weekday morning.

Attended a world film premiere (The Book of Clarence) here and it was very well organised. The staff including security had excellent customer service. The whole evening was fun and the film was brilliant. Fabulous cinema, great night.

Visited for a work event. Great facility, wonderful staff, and a wonderful experience for anyone interested in science, history, or both. My fave was the historical science instruments arranged as art!

An interesting thought-provoking place next to SOAS. They have changing exhibitions - well made and very informative. The staff is very helpful. We visited the exhibition "Expelled" in its last days and learned a lot.

Unfortunately closed to the public at present, The Senate House of the University of London is worth seeing. Just of the sublime Russell Square in Bloomsbury (have a drink in the cafe' there), The enormous Art Deco Senate House is at the centre of the UCL/SOAS/Birkbeck complex. It's a classic of the style; make sure to notice the elaborate lamps and the caps on the drainpipes.
This was where Eric Blair (nom de plume George Orwell) worked for the Ministry of Information during the war. His frustration with the work and with "B.B." - as the minister in charge, Brendan Bracken, was known - fuelled his ideas for "1984". The building was the model for the Ministry of Truth and "B.B." became Orwell's "Big Brother"....
I didn't see the slogans ( "WAR IS PEACE," "FREEDOM IS SLAVERY," and "IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH." ) on the building, though🤔

Have attended talks here, but think their exhibitions and bookshop really set it out from the rest and showcases the variety of the architecture world.

We visited the 'Forms of Industry' and 'Architectural adventures in mass media' exhibitions'. The first a more delicate comparison of photographic biopsies of industry - like half a container ship, almost Damien Hirst style! The latter an intro to virtual reality and history of architecture's inherent links to forms of communication.

Both were free, accessible and intriguing - everything here seems to project a curation from people fascinated in their work, without being over indulging. The building and area add to this feeling of course. A great place to bring teenage nieces/nephews in considering career ideas I would imagine - or for general interest in the build environment for others.

I had read about the Institute and thought it was a centre for German culture. While it does host German movie showings it is primarily a language school and not ( as I had assumed ) a German tourist information agency..
