We’d picked out the Emporium as a place to visit before arriving in Kendal, as it was at the opposite side of town it provided a decent walk and a good chance to stroll around an antiques shop.
The place itself was not dis-similar to several we’ve visited before with lots of dealers all having their own area stacked high with antiques and in some cases brick a brac.
We spent a good hour and a half looking at all the dealers wares which all brought memories of earlier years and childhood rushing back. There were a couple of items we may well have purchased if we hadn’t been on foot, but the fact we didn’t always leaves us the chance of a return visit.

I suppose the best thing about this shopping centre is the multi-storey car park to its rear which provides excellent reasonably priced parking in the centre of town.

The range and quality of shops in the centre is however distinctly average although the wider town has a good range of shops.

Kirkby Lonsdale only small but some interesting buildings and nice shops to look at.Good array of eating places and watering holes.Kendal too great for shopping and many great pubs and places to eat suiting all tastes in food .Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, clothes, food, plants and quite often a food festival or parade of some sort.Really interesting buildings full of character and Kendals industrial heritage seen in a couple of museums and the Quaker tapestry.Brewery arts centre always something on,live groups in the evening.

An eclectic mix of quality antiques includes a huge array of paintings and drawings. There is something for everyone here, whatever their taste. Martin & Pat are knowledgeable and helpful and prices are fair. Situated right opposite Kendal Town Hall and well worth a look.

A REAL antique shop. We visited the other antique emporium (uninspiring ) then found this - a real gem. The building itself is ancient and worth seeing. The owner was informative and helpful without being pushy. Whilst there was a huge amount of stock, such that you had to take some care moving around, it was very enjoyable and there were some real treasures to be found. We came away with a lovely piece of Delft (1897) and another piece of porcelain. We will definitely return.

This morning I took my new dachshund into Paws with Thought for his first groom. Rachael did an excellent job and is obviously a professional groomer in every sense of the word. Her love for her furry clients. is obvious to see. He looked wonderful and had obviously enjoyed his grooming - and pampering - fully. I really cannot praise this salon highly enough and shall return on a regular basis. I would heartily recommend Paws with Thought, for I consider their service to be second to none. Thank you, Rachael, for your dedication and professionalism.
