The views of the Cathedral, river Medway and the surrounding countryside are magnificent and the insight of what it must have been like to live their through the centuries was very instructive.
The view from the top of the tower is magnificent in all directions, with the castle grounds, the River Medway, Rochester Cathedral and plenty of historic buildings all visible (and really close by).

It's a very interestig site - a maze of tunnels and overground works built into the hill, with lots of nooks and crannies to explore and oodles of space to run around, picnic and enjoy the far-reaching views.
Big thanks to Neil who took us round and gave us some fantastic information and had great knowledge on site and had a site map to be able to show the scale of what you are seeing.

You can climb up a tower and get a wonderful view of the house and gardens, and see what looks like a very large new exciting landscaping project under construction on a lower level.
Do climb up to the upper terrace for views of the surroundings as well as down to the garden.

After you get out turn left and a little walk there's the castle with a nice view waterfront there's a lot of history to the castle and a lot of good views in and around the castle well worth a visit get the audio...
... us a short walk to the castle down a lovely cobbled street reminiscent of Rye the entrance is somewhat underwhelming but the castle or fort itself is very interesting - the views from the gatehouse are fabulous

Excellent views across the Medway, Has the Navel Memorial on site, well worth a visit and a good walk down to Fort Amherst which is a great tourist attraction
It is nice , once you manage to get up the hill the rest is easy , you get good views of the chatham area , and you can walk over to Gillingham .
