- 20jlaw21Croydon, UK2 contributionsExcellent day out. Varied collection of raptors. Flying displays well worth attending, birds flown iconic and commentary very illuminating and entertaining. Take your own food, although garden centre restaurant adoining, if required.Written October 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - relaxed53San Jose, CA148 contributionsWe had a lovely 2-hour Thursday afternoon walk late September amidst a variety of trees and bushes, many of which were unusual and not originally native to the area. Bridges, statues, and sculptures had Asian influence (Japanese, Buddhist). Some of the paths are quite steep, though paved and not irregular or rocky. Near the car park is an enormous garden supply center, with clean restrooms and a cafe. This is a nice little detour for a walk and exercise when in the area of Stow-on-Wold. The history placards are also quite interesting.Written September 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carness VFayetteville, AR74 contributionsWell worth the time if you’re anywhere near. It’s a really interesting home built in the early 1600’s and not restored but left so you could see it as it once was. The gardens were beautiful to walk through also. They describe it as a “time capsule” and that’s really what it is!Written October 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stang1 contributionLoved the interiors!
Visited yesterday on a rainy day! So it was great to have had the house tour! Beyond expectations to be honest! Our guide Safina really made the difference it was like being transported into a different time! Loved it and we’ll definitely be back next year!
Loved the Peacock room .. just amazing!Written September 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They gave me some great advice on how to aim and shoot at the target safely (and get closer to the center)! My session included the opportunity to try shooting a variety of types of bows, which was a lot of fun. They were very patient and friendly and were wonderful teachers. I truly enjoyed my lesson and it was one of the highlights of my holiday in the Cotswolds. I'd highly recommend Cotswold Archery to anyone visiting the area - they are the best! Thank you.Written September 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Werner U1 contributionI'm from Austria and this is the 10th time I've been to the south of England to admire all the beautiful gardens. I love Great Dixter, Sissinghurst, Highgrove, Kiftsgate, Hidcote and so on... Bourton House is definitely in the same league and could possibly even win! Many thanks to all the gardeners for their wonderful work and for bringing great joy and inspiration to all flower lovers!Written September 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jane H1 contributionWe had a brilliant walk with Roger around Blockley, amazed to learn about the Jurassic link with Lyme Regis and the Dorset coast. We’d walked by features such as the exposed limestone and various springs so many times without really knowing much about them and now we do. Especially fascinating was the detailed look at the different types of building stone - we’ve even bought our own hand lenses! A highly enjoyable and entertaining experience.Written July 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LynnPolyLeighton Buzzard, UK146 contributionsA lovely place to spend a Sunday morning browsing through this fascinating place. Small, but packed with objects and memorabilia. A trip down memory lane, as my Dad was stationed at Little Rissington. Seeing the flying ration tins, reminded me of raiding my Dad’s for sweets! So much history in a small spaceWritten October 4, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Caerwyns pal33 contributionsLongborough is rather a unique experience. From the eclectic outfits and diverse audience (although mostly older and well heeled) to the very grand picnics. The opera itself though certainly wasn't quaint or cotswold chic/rustic. Fantastic singers and a wonderful orchestra; a better performance of la Boheme than I've seen in most mainstream venues. The elderly gent in the seat next to me who said he'd seen it many times still had a tear on his cheek at the end.Not cheap but worth every penny, well organised with good facilities and incredibly helpful friendly staff.Written August 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barby305WalesSouth Wales, UK43 contributionsI thought my lawns and garden were well looked after but Lemington Lakes must manicure their grounds. You know the moment you arrive at the gates, punch in the code, then drive down the tree lined approach that this is not just a commercial fishery, it is also someone's cared for pride and joy. We stayed in one of the lodges, wonderfully appointed, clean, modern, everything we could have hoped for. There are 3 lakes available and all are well stocked with plenty of level, comfortable swims and a variety of fish. We had many Tench from Sunset Lake to nearly 4lb, plenty of variety in Abbey Lake with Roach to 1lb-5oz, Carp, Perch, Bream, Hybrids etc. Couldn't fault the place, it is ideal for the pleasure angler not the specimen hunter. Tackle trucks are available to get your gear from the lodges to the lakes at £2 daily and the small on-site tackle shop sells all you need for fishing.Written June 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BeckmassaLondon, UK5 contributionsAt least Longborough’s Die Tote Stadt by Erich Korngold as directed by Carmen Jakobi conveyed a real sense of place. Korngold, best known for his film music, deserves attention for both this opera which he started writing aged 18 (he was son of a leading Vienna music critic) and Das Wunder der Heliane written 1927. Here was a. rewarding score for Justin Brown to conduct - which is seldom heard -as well as offering strong main roles for Peter Auty as Paul and Noa Danon as the dancer Marietta who reminds him of his dead wife Marie. Auty is a fine artist. And Longborough did well with this almost unknown work.Written May 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
