- Manuel AliceLondon, UK6 contributionsThe birdwatching opportunities were incredible, and we loved learning from the knowledgeable staff. - Win TaskBedford, UK2,250 contributionsThe best place in area to visit for beautiful autumn reviews. Love the colours all around yellow, red, orange. At some places its like a red carpet on garden floor. A lot of people, parking was nearly packed.
It takes about couple of hours to get around. Lots of different trees and plants from other countries, bridges, rivers and water falls. Cafe is there to take a break of coffee or tea with sandwiches. Garden centre on-site with a gift shop. Dogs are very welcome. Lots of parking which is free. £10 with gift aid to get in and the tickets are valid all day, you can leave and return if you wish. Amazing view points throughout the walk of the Cotswolds. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.Written November 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The property has been renovated to a state of being made safe - i.e. leaking roof, woodworm etc - so the property is in its original state, cracks and all. The car park is a walk away, downhill over a rough surface, from the property. Unlike a lot of National Trust houses there isn't a cafe but an outside building with DIY facility: hot water, coffee & tea and honesty box; we had lunch in nearby Stow-on-the-Wold. The grounds are sparce but I think it would be worth a return visit during another season to see the gardens. The church next door was open for visitors although not a National Trust property.Written December 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Visited yesterday on a rainy day! So it was great to have had the house tour! Beyond expectations to be honest! Our guide Safina really made the difference it was like being transported into a different time! Loved it and we’ll definitely be back next year!

- Werner U1 contributionI'm from Austria and this is the 10th time I've been to the south of England to admire all the beautiful gardens. I love Great Dixter, Sissinghurst, Highgrove, Kiftsgate, Hidcote and so on... Bourton House is definitely in the same league and could possibly even win! Many thanks to all the gardeners for their wonderful work and for bringing great joy and inspiration to all flower lovers!Written September 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jane H1 contributionWe had a brilliant walk with Roger around Blockley, amazed to learn about the Jurassic link with Lyme Regis and the Dorset coast. We’d walked by features such as the exposed limestone and various springs so many times without really knowing much about them and now we do. Especially fascinating was the detailed look at the different types of building stone - we’ve even bought our own hand lenses! A highly enjoyable and entertaining experience.Written July 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LynnPolyLeighton Buzzard, UK146 contributionsA lovely place to spend a Sunday morning browsing through this fascinating place. Small, but packed with objects and memorabilia. A trip down memory lane, as my Dad was stationed at Little Rissington. Seeing the flying ration tins, reminded me of raiding my Dad’s for sweets! So much history in a small spaceWritten October 4, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Caerwyns pal34 contributionsLongborough is rather a unique experience. From the eclectic outfits and diverse audience (although mostly older and well heeled) to the very grand picnics. The opera itself though certainly wasn't quaint or cotswold chic/rustic. Fantastic singers and a wonderful orchestra; a better performance of la Boheme than I've seen in most mainstream venues. The elderly gent in the seat next to me who said he'd seen it many times still had a tear on his cheek at the end.Not cheap but worth every penny, well organised with good facilities and incredibly helpful friendly staff.Written August 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BeckmassaLondon, UK5 contributionsAt least Longborough’s Die Tote Stadt by Erich Korngold as directed by Carmen Jakobi conveyed a real sense of place. Korngold, best known for his film music, deserves attention for both this opera which he started writing aged 18 (he was son of a leading Vienna music critic) and Das Wunder der Heliane written 1927. Here was a. rewarding score for Justin Brown to conduct - which is seldom heard -as well as offering strong main roles for Peter Auty as Paul and Noa Danon as the dancer Marietta who reminds him of his dead wife Marie. Auty is a fine artist. And Longborough did well with this almost unknown work.Written May 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
