Cairns Aquarium Cairns, Australia
#1 of 7 Zoos & Aquariums in North Queensland
My visit to the newly opened Cairns Aquarium was great, Charmaine was our knowledgeable guide who did a fantastic job of telling us about the exhibits and also with answering our diverse questions.
There are many, many different aquariums ranging from freshwater to salt water with all local Far North Queensland Australian fish, coral, crocodile, frog, snake, insect, crabs, starfish, sharks, rays and more.

Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas Port Douglas, Australia
#2 of 7 Zoos & Aquariums in North Queensland
We went for a breakfast with the birds and then a walk through the park, great little zoo showing Australian wildlife like crocs, cassowaries, koalas and lots of kangaroos you can feed and pet.
It is a smaller (as compared to major zoos) facility and you can walk among all the animals and birds (except for the Crocodiles of course!) and pet the kangaroos.

Our strategy, since we had a busy day ahead, was to get to Koala Gardens right when it opened at 9, see the wildlife, feed the kangaroos (which is free with zoo admission), and then get in line to cuddle a koala a...

Daintree Wild Zoo Daintree, Australia
#5 of 7 Zoos & Aquariums in North Queensland
The zoo is an added bonus, the Crocodiles are massive, you can hand feed the Kangaroos and Wallabies what a novel thing to do.
There should be more zoos devoting space to rescued wildlife.
