- Em C1 contributionA really special place which is well worth a visit if you're on the North Island of NZ. The tour from Vishwa was awesome too.Written May 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ShrijuSydney, Australia31 contributionsBeach with fabulous views. Walking on the black sand and sitting on the rocks was amazing. The climb the lion walk was closed however we say from a cliff the beautiful sunsetWritten August 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - samlmmBoynton Beach, FL85 contributionsThe trail is beautiful, the artwork is magnificent and it all comes together in perfect harmony. We only had about 50 minutes to do the trail, when we had planned for 1.5 hours. I’d say definitely give yourself 1.5 hours and 2 hours would be easy to spend there.Written July 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Zuzana1 contributionI live in Warkworth but never been here until I’ve needed some unique presents to take overseas with me. Happy to support local.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- christinernVancouver, Canada301 contributionsAmazing nature reserve to camp at. You need a code to enter on a lock pad on the gate (code received after booking). A predator fence protects the many birds, and I mean many (pokeku, pheasants, kiwis, pigeons, owls). The road is windy and narrow to access the park. Beautiful beach views, walks, sand dunes.
Pit style toilets, soap and water provided at the bathrooms. Lots of open space in the paddock to camp. Tons of bird life and bird life noises from the forest. Peaceful and relaxing.Written March 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Took my girls snorkling for a couple of hours. Lots of fish, plankton, and a stingray. There is a tidal rip that could get poor swimmers in trouble, but with basic swimming skills you should be OK. Very clear water and a few car parks now.Written December 30, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Laurel MCalgary, Canada805 contributionsWe parked at the upper car park then headed towards the South Battery. There is a map of the hill and you can go in any direction. As one local out walking his dog said ‘you can’t get lost’! The path is mowed grass and follows the hill around in a circle. Lots of stops at old war installations, beautiful views of Devonport, Mt Victoria and the Auckland skyline. I was surprised we spent 2 hours here! Such a nice break from the city.Written February 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

The carpark was quite large with toilets. The beach is very large and it wasn't very busy when we were there. There are a few trails that goes along the beach but we just walked along the beach instead of heading on the Pohutakawa glade trail to the tunnel campsite. It did get busy when we arrived in the afternoon and most of the parking area was full.Written January 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eden P11 contributionsWe went on Friday 13th and the atmosphere through the night was impeccable. The characters were scary and their outfits were stellar. Would highly recommend!!
We had a slight mishap where one of the forest actresses was physically pushing us back after making us loop around multiple times. I understand they were trying to slow people down since the haunted house line was backed up. However it was hard to tell that she was genuinely trying to stall us when she was letting people behind us go through with no stalling. Perhaps there could be a way for the actors to give people a signal that helps communicate this better?
Don’t let that deter you though - it was a busy night and it takes a lot to do what these scarers do! The rest of the actors were EXCELLENT. The noises and props were exceptional in the haunted house. And the free photo with your entry is a nice way to capture the memory.Written May 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Would highly recommend to anyone with kids or not to visit this if you have the opportunity. Good walking shoes, water and layer clothing would be a good idea. - Mike G5 contributionsLovely countryside drive with a visit to Hamiltons Gap, the only other than Kariotahi that allows access to the West Coast beaches on the Awhitu peninsula . This is well worth the stop as the wind has sculptured the sandstone cliffs into intricate shapes. We were advised by the Information Centre in Waiuku that access to the Lighthouse is not possible at present due to a washout of the road and this may take some time to be repaired. Advice, check with the Info centre at Waiuku before making the trip , there is plenty of other attractions to visit in this area.Written June 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AUSLionLondon, UK1,354 contributionsA visit with friends before departing New Zealand. Good setting, easy and relaxed, with option to purchase some Villa Maria. Food options were good, food came fresh and fast, and was tasty. Service friendly and efficient. Overall a good visit to the Tasting Room.Written October 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
