- idotomanyreviewsAuckland, New Zealand31 contributionsIt's a great walk in which you get to walk amongst the sheep and cows. At the end of the track is a great ice cream shop. This is a great nature walk away from the city while still in the city!Written June 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Philip PHerentals, Belgium1,278 contributionsWe had a guided tour of the central part of the collection, excellently illustrating the blending of the European with the local influences. I discovered a few masterpieces that are not well-known outside NZL. To return and to spend more time there. After the tour we had a dinner, excellent in this environment as well.Written July 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patricia CHouston, TX124 contributionsMake this place your first stop when visiting the Waitakere Ranges. The park rangers will inform which trails are currently closed due to kauri dieback disease. Lots of cool displays and some lovely souvenirs. Then head out to the Arataki Trail located near the visitor center and walk to the Cathedral Grove of kauri trees - absolutely magical to visit these ancient trees. The walk is easy and well-posted, should be easy for anyone of reasonable fitness. Please respect this place by cleaning your shoes going in and out. We sat and scrubbed our hiking boots at the cleaning station. Kauri dieback disease is terrible and has no known cure. You can actually see these wonderful trees bleeding. Totally enjoyed this walk - our very first one in New Zealand!Written December 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. 10 min bus ride from Auckland CBD . Park houses war museum and winter garden .
Park has so much to offer to both, locals and tourists, regardless of the time of the year. Whether you are a museum and history lover, botanical and animal lover, or prefer activities like walking, running or playing rugby, you will find fun in this massive park.
On-site restaurant also one in museum . Plenty to do . You can spend easily few hours !Written August 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The gardens are quite big and there are so many tracks/areas to walk through. It’s well laid out and has a great variety of plants from the world over. Mixed in are water features & lots of birds about. It’s good to take a picnic and a ball and spend time meandering around. Easy to find and park too. Definitely worth a trip.Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada1,990 contributionsThis well maintained park is near the Art Museum and University of Auckland. In here there are quite a few places to sit and relax. - Patricia CHouston, TX124 contributionsAbsolutely wonderful to visit these amazing birds to view them up close but without disturbing them. This colony of gannets is located about 40 minutes from Auckland and is a "must" for nature lovers. We totally enjoyed watching the birds zoom around in the wind and protect their little chicks. Lots of fun!Written December 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Sheila2309Yeovil, UK21 contributionsWe visited this beach on our first day in New Zealand. What a great introduction to a beautiful country. The neighbouring Piha Beach is also stunning. Neither of these beaches are particularly suitable for swimming but stunningly beautiful. The black sand is hot underfoot when the sun is shining!Written March 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
